"Sir Favarious, aye he lives here. Up in Hilltop District. Big place, but then they are all big places up there." He chuckles. "Though they each say they are the richest in the city." The shopkeeper looks around at his shop and then back at the party. "Tell you what, I'm almost done here and if you'll give me just a few minutes I can take you right to his place. I'm heading that way myself to make one last delivery tonight. Just need to close up the shop first. If you'd rather go alone, I can just describe it, but if I show you then it will be quicker. Not sure how big of a rush you folks are in." He smiles kindly. How will the party respond? Quote

He ushers the party out the door and heads back inside after telling them he'll join them in a moment, they hear a click as he locks the front door. Standing on the street in front of the building, the party notices how deserted the streets are now. The sun has set, looks like all of the shops are locked up tightly. They all just stand around quietly for a moment waiting for the shopkeeper to come out. Then, Maurice steps out in front of everyone and turns to address the group. "Tesni, Namyrra....Eric. I need to talk to you all about something before the shopkeeper comes back out. This quest we are on, is just not sitting right with me. We've been chased by thieves since before we even had the first package, why? We are being paid a lot of money to deliver these packages to this man we are about to meet, but doesn't that seem strange to any of you? Why so much gold, why even have Heroica do it at all? Things are delivered every day safely around the world without any help from heroes. It does not feel right, and I am not sure why nobody else seems to feel this way." He pauses for a moment, pulling the Bag of Holding out of his pack and holding it in his clenched fists. "Worst of all, we just assisted a bank robbery. You can try and excuse it by saying we didn't know what was happening, but who shot first, I ask you? What happened to all the customers while we were busy dividing the loot? What did Toby mean by silenced? Ennoc knows that Eric has no soul to be saved, but what of you Tesni? Through this quest, who have we helped so far? Have we bettered the world? What about that little girl crying in the streets of Eubric? We ran right past her, we wanted our gold! This is not a quest of The Righteous Light, this is not something I can be involved with anymore." He hands Tesni the bag and lowers his eyes. "There is another Hero here in Mistaria, I've seen her a few times now in passing. I fear the worst, this evil place shall not take one of us if it can be helped. I feel that Ennoc is giving me a sign for my true calling, I must go and try to find her and help if I can. I am positive that you can continue the quest without my assistance, besides I never manage to hit an enemy anyway. I know when the ship leaves, and please do not fear as I will be there with you, but for now I take my leave. Goodbye friends, and may Ennoc guide you to do the right thing." Before anyone can say a word, Maurice takes off down the street and disapears between two buildings. The shopkeeper arrives to find the party staring at an alley, Tesni holding a rough leather bag in her hands, and Eric with a smug but disbelieving look on his face. Darkdragon Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Bocaj leads the party out of the marketplace and through the city. They travel through nice areas, and skirt the downtrodden. Heading up a steep street, they get to what must be the Hilltop District. The homes are spaced out with glorious landscaping. Each home more spectacular than the last, but not by much. All the homes seem to be protected by magic and even in the low light of the evening they glimmer and glow. As the path heads down into a small valley, Bocaj points at a huge white palace rimmed with pine trees. "There it is, Favarious Manor. I can leave you here to go about your business, or come with you if you'd like. I don't mind either way. Always have wanted to see what Sir Favarious keeps in his trophy room, but I do have this delivery to make up the road." How will the party respond? Quote

Just as Tesni is about to ask what's next, a woman with a staff comes down the white marble stairs and opens the gate slightly to speak to them. "Who are you, what do you want?" She then sees Bocaj and something like a smile cracks her grim face. "Bocaj! Long time no see. Do you have a delivery for Favarious? He didn't mention anything." "No ma'am. These fine folks were in my shop asking where they could find the Manor, and so I though I'd show them to it directly." He smiles sheepishly at the orcish mage. "Though, I was so excited to come by, I failed to ask them what thier business is with him." "Ah, well we can rectify that right now." She looks over at the party. "How can we help you?" "I'm to old for those sorts of adventures, and I have my shop to look after. No, I'm just escorting these folks from town to your home. I was headed over to Marvella's to deliver something tonight." Eric strolled around in the room and looked at the many items stalled out. He was particularly interested in the armors. As a child of the North, he could definitely appreciate top-knotch metal craftmenship. Softly Eric touched one of the beasts to feel if they were real once or if they were just statues. The man smiles warmly, looking at the huge creatures. "I hunted them myself actually. They are, or rather were, guardians to some wonderous treasure. In my youth I was able to travel far and wide to search out wonderous artifacts. I can't travel as much these days, my old bones won't have it. But luckily there are adventurers for hire now." He gives Eric a wink just before his attention is drawn to Tesni holding out a leather bag to him. "Oh, my my my. Yes, I think they are all in here. Very good work folks, very good. Come with me, you simply must see this." Sir Favarious leads the party through the door in the back of the room and into another room. In the center of the room there are six pits cut into the floor, each filled with different gems. Quote

He seems to have forgotten the party is even there. After the last box has been placed, he looks up and his face has changed. He has a more maniacal grin and with a wave of his staff the door to the chamber slams closed. Bocaj is startled and walks over to the door, trying to open it. The door doesn't even rattle in it's frame no matter how hard he is pulling on it. "What is the meaning of this Favarious?" Favarious only stands on the raised platform, chanting and waving his staff. The gems all start to glow and flames appear beside each pot, the flames engulf the boxes and Favarious starts laughing and chanting even more feverently. Quote

As the maniacal mage started chanted, Eric threw an inquisitive look over at Tesni and shook his head. He muttered something but it was too silent for Tesni to make out the words. Most likely, it was something along the lines of "what is this crap?" The Nord grunted. What was it with all these power-hungry mages? He uncorked one of his many Meads and gulped it down, together with his last portion of Smelling Salts. "I've got a bad feeling about this," he grumbled and prepared himself to end this madness the way he was used to the most: using brutal violence.
