Eric pockets his newly gained coins as he munches on the Tinyshroom.

"Tastes kind of funny, but not bad. Not bad at all ..."

After eating the shroom, Eric feels fitter and more alive. Then he noticed the bruises and cuts the shrooms had somehow managed to inflict on him and requested a heal from Maurice.

Posted

Following the others' examples Namyrra decides to taste her shroom cap as well.

"Hmm, this shroom tastes like.. shroom. Not very doom-like taste, but then again, I have no idea what Doom would taste like. It does make me feel just a little bit stronger though."

"Anyway, let's go for a walk, hopefully without running into even more hostile creatures."

As Eric stood there waiting for the others, his vision suddenly got blurry. Things around him started to twist and turn. His party mates' faces got all warped and funny colored. The Nord shook his head, hoping to clear the effect, but it was to no avail. Rubbing his eyes again and again, he muttered "What the ... !? That sure was some damn crazy mushroom!"

Eric started smiling, then laughing first silently and then gradually louder. He didn't know what he was laughing with. In fact, he didn't really have much to laugh about, his life had gotten into a rather crappy situation lately, where drinking has become the Raider's only solace. He stared blankly at his quest mates, his eyes dull and a weird look on his face. Then, he sank to his knees and collapsed on the ground.

"Eric, what the ... " he heard one his party members say, but he didn't catch the end of the phrase. For a split second, his mind went blank and seemed to leave Olegaia.

"... hell is going one with you? You haven't gotten soft, have you now?" a familiar female voice said in a somewhat mocking tone.

Eric opened his eyes once again. His vision was back to normal, but he sure wasn't on deck anymore. He looked around and noticed nothing but sand, white sandy beaches surrounded by an endless crystal-clear ocean. The Nord then turned to the woman. He raised his hand to block the strongly shining sun.

He knew the woman standing in front of him, yet she seemed changed. A bit more worn. She still looked young as ever, but her face and clothes were filthy with ashes and soot. Her vibrant auburn wasn't in curly locks anymore like it used to be, instead some of it was plaited and shark teeth were woven into the plaits. She still had a rather pale complexion, but her cheeks were reddened by the heat. She had a scar on her right cheeck and a large hat covered her head, giving her at least some protection from the sun. If Eric didn't know any better, he'd say this woman was a pirate.

"Well, have you gotten soft? Can stand the drink anymore?" she said as she took a healthy swig of her rum bottle.

"Astrid, what the hell ... ?" Eric asked, visibly shocked and surprised. "You changed."

"A lot of stuff has happened since you left, Eric. A lot of bloody bad events crossed me" There was a hint of melancholy in the woman's voice, but it was quickly subdued by a giggle. "Darling, you have no idea" she continued with a playful look on her face.

"So, what brings you here?" Astrid continued. "Did you want to see me again that badly, huh?" she grinned, while having a seat next to Eric in the sand. She shuffled closer to him "Like the old days, huh?" she laughed.

Surprised by the entire event, Eric was slow with his reply. "I just ate some mushroom. Guess I'm kind of high, then?" Again, he started laughing uncontrollably. "Crazy stuff" he managed to say in between his laughter, which was echoed by Astrid, who had another sip of her bottle. She handed Eric the bottle. As he downed the rest of its contents, he could hear her say: "Here, it'll make you feel ..."

The last word of her sentence didn't quite reach him, it echoed in the vast blackness, far away in the distance: "...better"

Eric felt his stomach turning, his food was coming back up. Without warning he vomitted. He opened his eyes again and noticed he was now back on the ship. His vision was still somewhat blurred. He looked up and heard one of his friends ask: "Are you feeling better?"

With a thump, Eric collapsed back onto the ground. Looks like he's Oneupshroom-intolerant. Answering the question is difficult, so he just gives a thumbs-up.

I still want my +1 extra health, though

The party wanders around the ship as the bright day turns to twilight. Most crew members seem to be busy and there are not many passengers out and about, but they come accross a few folks around the ship.

At the fishing dock, there are some crew and passengers busy fishing. They don't seem to be having as much trouble as the heroes had that morning...

7259422282_4ea4c8c7c7.jpg

As the heroes approach the docks, the man who rents the poles shakes his head.

"We don't want any trouble tonight, if you don't mind."

The captain and first mate are the same place the party met them the night before...

6988223400_69ec188485.jpg

The first mate pours the captain some more rum.

"A fine night for sailing. Fine night indeed." Remarks the captain.

And some passengers or crew (it's hard to tell) are playing a game of cards.

7259422154_f3bcffd4e1.jpg

"Woa, no need to get upset. Here you win this hand. Lets have a new deal." The man with the eyepatch seems to be trying to keep the other calm as they play.

Posted

The man with the eye patch notices the party has stopped a short distance away and is watching him. When the other player looks a the cards, the man with the eyepatch glances over at the party and makes a shooing motion with his hand as his eyes dart from the party to the other man and back to the party. He looks very nervous.

Posted

As the heroes stand around talking about going over to the game, but doing nothing, the sky darkens and eventually the two men slink away. The heroes have not much left to do but head back to the cabin in the darkness.

All the heroes lay down on the their own beds and sleep. The sleep comes easier than they thought it would and soon it's morning again. It occurs to Tesni that the ship will be landing in port tonight.

Will the party hang out in the cabin until the ship docks or will they wander around the ship again?

Posted

The party heads out of the cabin, toward the fishing dock. On the way there they see the two men from the night before but they are having a nice fried fish breakfast. Nearly passed out behind a barrel is a man Eric recognizes from the galley.

7275766970_9614540ae2_z.jpg

At the fishing dock is very crowded this morning. Many folks fishing and others presumably heading back to the galley to get their catch cooked up for morning meal. Looks like the waters are still today and there is a plethora of seafood being brought in by the fishers.

7275766892_6d94af88b7_z.jpg

The captain is at the wheel as expected, but the first mate isn't there by his side. They finally see the first mate come out of the door to the galley. He's carrying what appears to be a fish sandwich in one hand and the ever-present bottle of rum in the other. He waves down the party and heads over to speak to them.

7134308399_4494b66791_s.jpg

"Hi folks. Lovely day, isn't it? We are making great time and should be able to pull into Mystara by mid afternoon! Feel free to wander around and talk to folks, or if you like just wait in your cabin or in the galley until we dock."

He heads on up to the deck and hands the sandwich to the captain.

Where will the party go?

Posted

As the afternoon sun starts to go down, the ship's first mate can be seen talking to crew and passengers all over the ship. Everyone he talks to stops whatever they were doing and packs up, heading off the deck. The party does notice that he never actually approaches the man with the eyepatch playing poker with the grey man, he only waves at the man in the eyepatch who nods. He then approaches the party.

7134308399_4494b66791_s.jpg

"Hi folks. We are due to arrive at port within the hour. At this point the captain has asked that all passengers wait in their cabins. You'll know when we arrive as the ship will stop moving."
He chuckles at his own joke and heads away to talk to the next group of people wandering the ship.

The party heads back to the cabin to await the time when they can finally leave the ship. After some time, they feel the ship coming to a stop and the first mate knocks on the cabin door.

7134308399_4494b66791_s.jpg

"We have arrived at Port of Miranda. This is the end of the voyage for you folks. Your cargo if you have any will be unloaded for you and waiting on the dock."
With that he leaves, the door wide open.

The heroes head off the ship, most of them happy to be on solid ground again. Once they enter the port, they see an inn and tavern, some small homes, and three small shops. The deck hand told them that there would be three shops called Greebie's Good Weaponry, Sanjays Spells and Stuff, and Freeda's "Fresh" Fish. Since there are three shops here, this must be the right place.

What will the heroes do now?

Namyrra walks over to the shop that's presumably Sanjay's Spells and Stuff. "Good morning, you're Sanjay I presume? What do you have to offer today?"

Posted

I should have full health, Maurice healed me on the previous page.

Deciding to fix the mistake of not bringing potions to the quest, Eric decided to check out Sanjay's shop, as well. Hopefully, the man stocked some useful items.

Posted

"Tesni dear, while we're haggling with these merchants could you perhaps check the next receipt from the tube to see where we have to go afterwards?"

Posted

Sorry about stats, it was late. Fixed now

The party approaches what looks like Sanjay's Spells and Stuff. He does seem to be selling an array of potions, scrolls, gems, and even some magic wands.

"Hmm, your inventory is quite interesting, I'll surely be back, just have to drop by this fine fellow to your right first." With that Namyrra left Sanjay's to check out Greebie's Good Weaponry instead.

Tesni discreetly checked her second receipt for their goal. "I would like to look in on the weapon merchant and see if I can offload any of this sea-junk we got from the fishes..."

"Veelcomb frinds. I am Greebie, dis eer my shop. I make all dees wippuns, except, how you say? Duh majeek ones, I use gems from Sanjay. Eef you need ... private wippun, I make for you! Tell me wut you be need."
Greebie seems to search for the right words, but he manages to get the point across.

ITEMS FOR SALE 150 gold each:

Great Spiked Club
(WP: 10, suitable for barbarians)

Fancy Crossbow
(WP: 10, ranged weapon, suitable for rangers)

Shiny Dagger
(WP: 10, suitable for mages and rogues)

SERVICES:

Upgrade a weapon (+1 WP) or shield (+1 SP)
:

Any weapon/shield can be upgraded with this service, adding one point to its power/protection per upgrade. Each upgrade costs the amount of WP/SP the weapon has after the upgrade times ten.

You can order several upgrades for your weapon, but the costs will stack. For example, upgrading a Mace (WP: 3) to a Mace (WP: 5) will cost {40 + 50 =} 90 gold.

Merge a weapon with an elemental gem
:

You need a weapon and an elemental gem for this service. Merging the gem will give the weapon all the elemental attributes of the used gem, but the gem itself will not be available to use anymore. This service costs 60 gold.

Remove an elemental gem from a weapon

The merging can be undone to get the gem back, but it will cost 75 gold.

Mythrilize weapons (+10 WP):

You need a weapon and some Mythril, which is a very rare item, for this service. Forging the weapon with Mythril will increase its power by ten points, but the Mythril will be expended. This can only be done once to any weapon. This service costs 100 gold.

QM Note: most of the descriptions in this post were directly from Sandy's marketplace posting, I thought that would be the best way to not mess up the descriptions.

"Hmm, I'd love for you to remove the diamond from this diamond imbued dagger for me mr Greebie, but don't you think 75 gold for that service is a bit steep? Surely 50 should be enough for that."

"Is veery difficult work, take away majeek gem to not break it. You white lady like white gem, so good deal I give for you."
He pauses a moment and looks around before leaning in closer and whispering. "Only 60 gold for you."
