Starwars4J Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 I was browsing S@H and noticed the normal "light grey" 1x1 stud pack (90 for $3US, not bad), when I saw a dark grey. I assumed these were just "bley" and "dark bley", but then I saw "medium grey". I have to wonder, is this old grey? Does that mean they still have some stock of old grey if it is? link Quote

Starwars4J Posted November 5, 2006 Author Posted November 5, 2006 So you're saying that when I see "light grey", it's true light grey, but when I see medium grey it's bley? Or the other way around? Quote
snefroe Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 So you're saying that when I see "light grey", it's true light grey, but when I see medium grey it's bley? Or the other way around? oops, sorry... Medium stone grey is light bluish grey Dark stone grey is dark bluish grey not so long ago i talked to a lego girl and she said the old 'classic space grey is no longer available, i'm guessing 'light grey' may be the ultra light grey that, to my knoledge was never used except for 1x1 plates. i've got a load of that by mistake and i can only use it to fill gaps here and there... oh well, you can always order and see for yourself. 3 dollars isn't the end of the world... Starwars4J Posted November 6, 2006 Author Posted November 6, 2006 That's probably what I'll end up doing when I make my next order, thanks :-) Quote
Hinckley Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 That's probably what I'll end up doing when I make my next order, thanks :-) I believe the light gray on S@H is the very light bley... Quote
Brick Miner Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 from what i can gather, the 9V tracks listed as dark gray are "old dark gray", as opposed to dark stone gray (or dark blurish gray according to BL). and they are the only "old gray" still available on lego.com... i think ??? actually i hope, cause i ordered these "dark gray tracks" last week 8-| - BrickMiner Quote

I believe that Lego are producing 9v tracks in dark stone gray now as I got some when I ordered 10128 Level Crossing from Shop@Home a while back. I had to return the Level Crossing because it had a mixture of old light gray and light stone gray, and some of the parts that should have been gray were supplied in white! I don't mind the new colours, but I like to use the same grays throughout a particular model, so I'm very interested if new "old dark grey" track is still available because it will match my existing track. I believe that Lego are producing 9v tracks in dark stone gray now as I got some when I ordered 10128 Level Crossing from Shop@Home a while back.yes, i will follow up here, no problem... i came to this conclusion (that they are the ONLY old gray left) because there is an option to "show all available pieces of this color" on the PaB. when i placed the tracks into my basket, and clicked the "show all available pieces of this color" only tracks came up... straight, curved, etc... and had a description of "dark gray" for their color.while, lego.com has lots of bricks, plates, and slopes in what is called this "dark stone gray". i figured stone gray had to be BL's blurish gray. likewise, stone or not-stone must refer to old or new light gray. while, light, medium, and dark refers to the color of the new grays (and does not distinguish old from new grays, in regards to SW4J's original question). but that is just my intrepretation ;-) order should show up next week... - BrickMiner Quote
Brick Miner Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 just to follow up here... i received the lego.com PaB order... and yes, the tracks were old dark gray. so im pretty much convinced LEGO uses this "stone" adjective to describe "new" gray from the "old". - BM Quote

It's difficult to know how much of this track they've got left, but if the've put it up on PAB, I'm guessing *a lot*! Thanks for the update Brick Miner. Quote
