The battle against the Ancient Dragon Phase 2 began. Johon shouted and sprinted at the dragon's head, missing his first attack but connected with his second for 22 damage and causing decay. Knifk planned for the long term battle by taking the sentinel position, blocking all damage the next round. He then scored a hit against the dragon's right claw but it had no effect due to it's Earth properties. Hybros quickly attacked the dragon's left claw and then its head, dealing 52 damage to each. Guts slashed the dragon's head for 40 damage and then was bit in return, receiving 10 damage. The dragon's head then nipped Elgar for 5 damage. Elgar responded with a triple shot, dealing 20 damage to the Ancient Dragon's head and both it's claws, poisoning them as well.

The ignored wings blasted Johon, causing him to be confused for the next turn. The tail then whiped Johon, stunning him for the next turn.

Johon looks around confused as of what was going on and ran into a wall, and falls down. All of a sudden, he looks up towards the party and starts mumbling.

"how hey, what going ons?... teddy bears and sleeping munchkins. It's a flaming pork-chop! Oogie, rickei ta-too."

Quickly, while Knifk protected the party with his shield, Hybros went in for the kill and attacked the head twice form the front row.

"Grrr, listen to me, next time."

Guts quickly ripped of a piece of his headwraps, and wrapped them around his shoulder, where he was bitten. Guts then charged at the Head from the front row.

The battle against the Ancient Dragon Phase 2 continued. Johon picked himself up off the ground and shook away his confusion. As the Ancient Dragon opened it's maw to blast the party with fire, Knifk slashed it for 22 damage. The dragon backed up to freeze the party but Hybros jumped forward and slashed it for 92 damage, raining gold coins onto the ground. The Ancient Dragon swung with it's hand to damage Hybros but Hybros struck quicker for 92 damage and dislodged another 92 coins. The dragon fell to the ground thrashing.

THE BATTLE IS VICTORIOUS!

Guts gained a level of experience! Knifk, Hybros, Johon and Elgar each gained a half level of experience! The Ancient Dragon dropped nothing.

The dragon continued to thrash around on the ground. It blew fire all around it, even hitting it's hoard but not melting the ice all the way. As Guts ran forward to finish the dragon it slammed the ground knocking down the party. It then launched itself high into the air. It scorched itself again to burn off the poison and blast away the decaying scales. The Ancient Dragon landed on the quarry ledge again. It arched it's neck straight up and bellowed loudly. The sound echoed off the quarry wall and scared animals in the woods nearby. Large shapes came out of an outcropping of rocks and sprinted rapidly toward the party. Even in the distance the party could tell these creatures were larger than the ones they fought before.

100x100bard.jpg

"Excellent fight! Good show of your might! This battle is long but good for a song! I'll make you all epic, in the tale of...um...of...great proportions. Hah, I'll make your epic tale sound better, don't worry." said Singerson. "Those ones coming look a bit scarier than the ones before. Prepare yourselves for battle."

Party Leader, notify Singerson when you are ready to engage the enemy.

The dragon just wouldn't give up. Hybros braced himself again as he downed another set of Mead, Nostrum, and Smelling Salts, and prepared for another attack while the dragon recovered. It was a truly formidable enemy, but Hybros pondered its purpose. A creature so ancient and wise should not be so enraged, giving him and the other heroes no choice but to kill it.

Guts watched as the others prepared themselves for battle. The ranger, Elgar, was checking his seemingly endless supply of crossbow bolts, and the short guy with the hat and the scythe was apparantly doing his best keeping several mixtures in, the fool, everyone knew that the combination of Mead and Smelling Salts caused stomach aches.

The figures in the distance approached slowly, Guts could not quite make them out, but he was sure it was more brood of the dragon. If they were anything like the last ones they dispatched, they would not be a problem. It was not common for a dragon to lay this many eggs at once, at least no dragon Guts ever heard off, and if these dragonlings were larger than the last ones, the only possible explanation was that the ones they fought first were weaklings: there is no way this dragon brooded multiple times, at least not in the last decade or so.

While Guts checked, fastened and wiped dirt and blood off his armour, a combination of leather strips, steel links, plate-metal, and his signature wrappings, his memory wandered to the last time he fought a dragon like this, his only time, and he thought it would be his last.

"The mountain was dark, cold, treacherous, but mostly cold. For almost a month, a slightly younger Guts Holla had trained among the warriors of the Hellpeak clan. Tough, skilled, and above all: Without fear, these warriors were. The reason Guts was here? Vengeance. It was always about vengeance, all tragedies were. Or love, but that is not why he was on the mountain. Guts was a guest of the Hellpeak clan, allowed to stay, only because he managed to walk the path to were the clan was, alone, and unarmed, through the blizzards, and dealing with the dangers that the path held, be it living or not. The Hellpeak clan was strong, and Guts wanted to be strong, strong enough, at least.

The training would have killed most men. The cold days started with standing under icy waterfalls for hours, involved fighting people twice his size, with half the equipment and often ended without any sort of nutrition. The training was overseered by the strongest of the clan, who had endured the same training as well. It goals seemed vague, but it worked, The Hellpeak clan was strong, feared even, by many other Norse clans, they were not spoken about, since it was whispered they feared no Gods. But Guts did not care, he was punching frozen boulders with his bare fists, and dragging equipment through meter's high snow. In short, it was the worst month of the rogue's life. And then... The dragon was spotted.

Back then, it all made sense. Of course you attack the Elder dragon, as large as a moderately sized fort, with paws as large as houses, teeth the size of broadswords and wings you see only in nightmares. The Hellpeak clan lived for fighting, and this was a fight alright. Not long after the initial spotting, a plan was made, the warriors would attack the beast at dawn, whilst it was hunting. The plan was stupidly simple: The best warriors would draw it's attention, waiting for an oppertunity to take it's eyes out or if they were lucky, one of the paws. The rest would stay back, and support cover by throwing spears, in order to cripple it's wings. It seemed like a better plan back then.

It was a bloodbath, but what did they actually expect? A massive, firebreathing dragon with the strength of an army, versus a few dozen of warriors, armed with nothing but their steel, not even the magic kind, too. Siege engines would have been handy, or a couple of mages... Tales from the Empire say that dragons are majestic creatures, capable of speaking, and sometimes even befriending mortals. This dragon wanted none of these things, as soon as it came into sight, it attacked, the first flames scorched several of the best men, and that was before anyone was even in position. The battle was long, exhausting, and brutal, finally, when the sun began to set, the dragon started to stagger. It was bleeding from uncountable places, it lost an eye, it wings were nothing more but useless flaps of meat then. And only eight of the men were standing, Guts one of them, scorched, bleeding, his already scarred face further marked. Dying, the dragon was not done, it's last cry caused an avalanche, exactly where the camp of the Hellpeak clan was, along with the women and children. The dragon's last deed was making sure the Hellpeak clan would never recover.

Guts then just left, the few remaining members of the Hellpeak clan scattered, and are now either dead or mercenaries in some warband, where nobody has ever heard of the Hellpeak clan. The bards like to sing about slaying dragons. How they tell the stories, it seems so glorious, but the truth, is different."

Hybros wondered where all these dragons were coming from. He had not so much as seen a single dragon in his lifetime, yet he had seen seven within the last few hours. Could this dragon reproduce rapidly on its own? Thinking for a moment, Hybros pondered how his own people reproduced. Flashes of egg-like structures mounted on the rocky subterranean home of the imps entered his mind, memories buried deep within. This must have been how he was created. Strange, how something so plant-like and stationary could transform into a living, thinking animal.

Focus. His mind had to be on the battle.

Hybros drew Zoot's Reaper, and attacked the Wood Dragonling from the front row. It was the only enemy he could attack with his primary weapon, given its elemental properties.

The battle against the Dragonlings began. Guts moved in swiftly to end this lengthy series of battles. Guts found a weak spot in the Dragonling's neck and stabbed it for 148 damage. There was gold stuck in the scales and bark of the Wood Dragonling, and 148 coins spilled to the quarry floor. Hybros came in right behind to finish the Wood Dragonling with a critical strike for 72 damage. Hybros then rolled over the dying Wood Dragonling to strike the Earth Dragonling. It did not receive any damage from Hybros' earthen attack but it did release 92 gold coins from the creatures rocky hide. Knifk decided to take the Sentinel position and block all damage the next round of battle. Johon attacked the Earth Dragonling and dealt 18 damage and causing it to be decayed. Elgar took precise aim and dealt a critical strike of 58 damage against the Wind Dragonling.

The Ancient Dragon cannot be attacked while it is perched onto the quarry wall. It will stay on the quarry wall until all of it's dragonling children are defeated. At the end of every

Party Leader, choose the order of action.

All of you, choose your targets and the row you want to fight in. Also mention if you want to try to flee or if you want to use an item instead of attacking.

Any enemy not targeted will get a Free Hit on the party after everyone has acted.

"Hehe, with Knifk's protection, we should finish this battle! Bard, Sing your song of Haste! Knifk, try your luck twice on the Wind Dragonling, you won't hit it, but we need your shield up! Battle order: Hybros, Me, Johon, Elgar, Knifk."

Guts himself prepared to attack the Earth Dragonling (Twice).

Withdrawing his scythe from the Wood dragonling, Hybros felt encouraged at his ability to hold his own against the creatures and keeping up with the rest of the party. Hopping to the back row, Hybros flings his Banana Bladerang at the Earth Dragonling. He hoped it would boomerang through both enemies, as it was meant to do.

OoC: I should have damaged all enemies and caused the Deacying factor to them all. It says I rolled Shield/Critical hit, which does more damage, but not to all enemies.

Johon attacks each of the enemies with his meteor blade from the front row.
