technicfan Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I have got a 8041 Race Truck, but I am looking for some ideas to modify it to make it look better. Has anyone modified this truck to make it different or look better or even RC it?. Quote

DLuders Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I have used sunsky/ sunmint1's PDF Building Instructions (for the motorized 8041 Race Truck) that Lost_In_Noise linked to above. The use of Power Functions makes the truck model more fun. His shows him driving the "LEGO 8041 truck...motorized with Power Functions remote control. This is a simple modification with less change in the chassis and overall shape." Read more about it on this Korean-to-English translation of his original BrickInside post. You may enjoy building Tomik's alternate "C-model" of the 8041 Race Truck -- a Formula Racer which "features V8 engine with moving pistons, rear axle differential, front axle steering and adjustable rearview mirrors": Quote
Tomik Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 ...and I've also built hot rod out of this set. It is without instruction at this time but I plan to create it in future. Quote
DarkShadow73 Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I modded it with a new back bumper to haul a trailer but no RC or PF, it looks kind of like a small semi, I didn't put the racing stickers on it to make it look like a real semi tractor. I don't have pics of it, but I can always take some pics with my cell phone and zoom in on the back, just a simple mod so a kingpin from a trailer will drop into the hitch I put on it. I have got a 8041 Race Truck, but I am looking for some ideas to modify it to make it look better. Has anyone modified this truck to make it different or look better or even RC it?. @Tomik - like the blue telehandler, kind of futuristic looking, but quite cool looking. Ever done instructions for it? ...and I've also built hot rod out of this set. skylinedan Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I had this set, but sold it for less than I paid( bad Idea, we go there ) . It was ok, but it never really did much for me. Odd thing was, I went to Toys R Us today and they had 2 on the shelf. LEGO pulled them a while ago, I guess they just keep selling them despite this. Dan Quote
DarkShadow73 Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 @skylinedan - they clearanced them from TRU and Lego S@H a month or so ago, and haven't seen them again at TRU's in my area, but Amazon has loads of them for close to MSRP still. I don't think it was a wildly popular set. Funny thing though, I went to TRU last night with my fiancee and they had tons of 8070 Supercars, which are rising in price now, at least on Amazon, and I bought 2 more at the 10% off deal, $118.99, so even though TRU marks their Lego up, the 10% off put them lower than S@H. So now I have 4 MISB. BUT, had to put my mom in a nursing home today, so no more purchases until I can figure finances out. She still thinks I'm nuts for being so much Lego, but I have a spreadsheet with the MSRP's and average rates of all the sets I own and she settles back knowing if I listed them on BL or Amazon, I could make a mint on at least the older ones right now. I came out of my dark ages in 2004, started with the 8436 Truck, that's another one that has tripled in value, have 2 of them MISB. Usually I buy a set to build, and buy more on deals to keep for future resale and major profit. Got about 100 sets MISB right now and some older City, Alien Conquest and Ninjago collector sets as well. I had this set, but sold it for less than I paid( bad Idea, we go there ) . It was ok, but it never really did much for me. Odd thing was, I went to Toys R Us today and they had 2 on the shelf. LEGO pulled them a while ago, I guess they just keep selling them despite this. Lost_In_Noise Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 @Lost_In_Noise - what is that yellow component with the screws in page 21 of the instructions? Never seen that one before. It looks like the return-to-center steering part. Quote
Tomik Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 @Tomik - like the blue telehandler, kind of futuristic looking, but quite cool looking. Ever done instructions for it? As I wrote above, instruction for hot rod will be available probably this spring or summer. If you asked about instruction for telehandler you would find them on buildinst. Quote
laix Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 @Lost_In_Noise - what is that yellow component with the screws in page 21 of the instructions? It's the Hockey Spring used for Return-To-Centre-Steering Quote
