mrts Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 I voted Royal Knights too...I don't really like either of these 2 sets though. The dark fortress had too many oversized pieces, and i dont like the minifigs (purple armored knights? |-/)... And the Royal Knights castle is too simple. I also dont like the way this castle is build in the manual...its allmost like Fabuland... :-| But if i would buy one of these two sets it would def. be Royal Knights. It has many usefull pieces i could use in my own custom castles... Quote
oo7 Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 After much contemplation I have chosen Royal King's Castle. The design is OK, the minifigs are great, it's got nice pieces and the torture chamber and blacksmith dungeon is great. But I can't believe that after all this time the only 10176 pictures on Brickshelf are the ones belonging to Dunamis! Quote
zero1312 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 8877 of course. I'm a nutcase for sinister looking castles. ;-) Quote
zouave Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 I like the old knights kingdom looking castle.I wanted to buy one but couldn't afford it.[still can't] :-$ Anyways prefer the opposite of Val.'s castle. Quote
Wout Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 I like them both (I have them both not) But the "remake " of the first KK castle have +/- 14 old castle walls like in Classic castle and Vladeks castle not so many. So I choose the 10176, but it was a though decision Quote
BearHeart Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 I voted for VDF *knight* because with the upcoming Castle line, this castle will make an awesome main base for the skeleton *skull* faction (with modifications of course). I recently purchased VDF new in sealed box on eBay for $50 *y* Quote
pietje Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 I vote for 10176 Royal King's Castle I don't like the big wall stones from vladek's castle and I like the color and the minifigs from the royal king's castle Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted April 13, 2007 Author Posted April 13, 2007 It's interesting to see these old messages/polls pop up again. Interestingly enough, I've been seriously considering the purchase of 10176. I own Vladek's Castle. I like 10176 because it's another Castle Legend and I want to keep my Legend collection going. I just don't want to spend $100 (USD) on this set with the new Castle theme coming out soon (which I plan to buy). Plus one of the new sets is another King's Castle. With the Cafe Corner and Hobby Train out, I just don't know which to buy??? Oh - the dilemma. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 I'm a bit surprised with how this poll has turned out. Personally, I feel that Vladek's Castle is a much better set. I've never liked the type of design King's Castle has, and I think VDF has a good design, even if it is lacking a back. I don't, however, own either of these sets, so I can't base any of this off personal experience with either of the sets. ;-) Quote
blueandwhite Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I don't really understand how LEGO can consider 10176 to be a legend. The castle doesn't really share alot in common with 6090, the castle that supposedly inspired it. Its not a terrible design (though it is kind of dull), but there really was never much history behind this set. If anything, I think LEGO was testing the waters for the 2007 line with this one. Quote
Wowplayer Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I voted for Vladek's Castle. I have both of these sets, and both of them are really awesome. There's things I like and don't like about both of them. 10176 is nice because of its attempt to back to an earlier time, but I've never been much a fan of raised baseplates and the construction reminds me too much of the castle of morcia, basically it's just a better castle of morcia. Vladek's castle is just amazing and I don't have much to complain about it. Probably the only thing I didn't like is the power-ranger colored knights. The castle is huge and when added to a couple scorpion caves sets it looks even larger. I love the working drawbridge. I think this will work quite well with the new skeleton armies that are coming out later this year. Quote
Shakar Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 No doubts on this, I vote for the VDF. It is awesome. But if the poll was VDF vs 2007 King's Castle, I think the latter would win over me... Shakar Quote

I like 10176 because it's another Castle Legend and I want to keep my Legend collection going. With the Cafe Corner and Hobby Train out, I just don't know which to buy??? Oh - the dilemma. I'm a little surprised with this poll too. Especially with the sentiment that 10176 is actually a Legend. I don't think of it as a legend because it looks nothing like the set it is supposedly a re-release of. And honestly, I find it a little too <insert that tiresome argument> for my taste. Buy the Cafe Corner Brickster. As far as castles go, seriously people, save that $100 for the new castle line coming out this summer. That's my opinion anyway. Quote
Peoples_General Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 I'll go with the Royal King's Castle. It actually looks like a Castle and not some cheap immitation to the Black Gates of Mordor... LOL! Quote

While I understand what you're saying, I personally don't think Royal King's Castle looks anything like a real castle. :-/ Or at least not any I've seen. Quote
madoka Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 I don't, however, own either of these sets, so I can't base any of this off personal experience with either of the sets. ;-) I own 3 of the King's castle and 63 copies of Vladek's and I prefer the King's much more. I started my Lego collecting with the Royal Knight's Castle, so that similar design holds a special place in my heart. I'm still trying to sort through all the Vladek's. My god that's a lot of Lego to have to go through. I've opened about 25 of them so far. Quote
