Lyichir Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Has anyone heard any more about the dark knight rises lego set, that lego said would be released in july to coincide with the film? Brickipedia says that lego announced it a while ago and there is likely to be at least one set.It is almost july now and i was simply wondering if any details have been revealed. I believe that just meant that the regular Batman sets would be on store shelves coinciding with the movie. We don't know anything about more Batman sets. Sorry to disappoint. Quote
legofreak86 Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Well that could be possible, but a POTC 4 bluray/ DVD and Cars 2 pack had Lego specials last year. The were available at other stores too! POTC 4 special Cars 2 DVD speical Also, does anyone know if the POTC one is still available ? There are no more batman sets for release this year. Well apparently lego said that at least one dark knight rises set would be released in the summer to promote the movie. Then again that might be wrong i just find it hard to believe it's wrong because the site i was on had a reply from lego concerning the sets which said: Dear LEGO fan, Thanks for getting in touch with us. I'm afraid the set you inquired about isn't available to purchase at the moment! It might be around soon, but I can't tell you about any new LEGO® toys until they're actually available for purchase! I just think it is weird that if it is not to happen, they did not say no such set is in production. As they claim not availiable for purchase at the moment. This implies there may be one soon as they neither deny nor confirm this. Either way if this does not happen i hope they at least release the comic con dkr batman. Perhaps free with the dark knight rises when the movie comes out on dvd/blu ray. Quote
iambob13 Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 I think you may just be reading too much into that email. I hope you're right, but that's not much different from them saying 'no comment'. It's just a bit friendlier. Quote

HawkLord Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Not to spoil anything, but I think with some of the rumored content of The Dark Kight Rises, it's unlikely that lego will make a set from the movie. I think they'll have more luck with sets from the comics. Quote

Vindice Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Strange, i thought it had already been confirmed that there would be a set released for the DKR movie?? I thought i heard rumours of a Bane tumbler but i could've just had a dream about that. Quote

Darth Lurtz Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 If their is a The Dark Knight Rises set, maybe it will be a Comic-Con exclusive. Both the movie and the convention are happening around the same time. Quote

Darth Lurtz Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Possible, but TLC will likely focus on new, upcoming material. But possible. They can do something similar to the Tumbler back in 2008 where they make a vehicle from the Nolan movies, but use existing minifigures. For example, they can make the Bat and include Batman, Cat woman, and Bane from this year's sets. Quote
Sam892 Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Let's not forget that Lego probably had to sign an agreement to not let anything about this rumoured set be leaked early. The last thing Nolan wants is part of his final Batman film spoiled. It will most likely just appear one day like the funhouse did. Also the release of this set doesn't have to coincide with anything. There will always be s market for Batman. Just look at Star wars some of the sets for A New Hope don't coincide with anything. Somethings will just sell. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 I'd be very surprised if there isn't at least one set from "Dark Knight Rises", considering the fact that Lego will produce sets from "Man of Steel" next summer. All the cards are lined up as far as licensing and precedence is concerned. Didn't Lego already produce a set loosely based on Batman Begins (with the Tumbler)? Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 (edited) Sorry to get off topic a bit, but I noticed that the new Lobot minifigure has printing on the side of his head. Maybe there is hope for future Captain America and Flash minifigures. And I wouldn't rule out a TDKR set just yet. I'm not expecting one, but I wouldn't rule it out. TheLegoDr Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 It is anyone's guess on if we will get TDKR sets or if they planned on releasing the first DC wave with Batman (including the Bane figure because of the movie). Hopefully we will see a TDKR set because I would definitely stretch my budget to pick it up. I have not bricklinked the new Bane in hopes for getting a Bane in a TDKR set, but they could just as easily create a different Bane for those sets, so I'd have to pick up the old one anyway. Quote
Vindicare Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Thus far, Lego and Marvel have worked on sets which are pretty much based on everything but the comics, directly. The Avengers sets were clearly based from the films, the Spiderman set is based off of the new cartoon, the X-Men set is based off generic themes, primarily - seems to me - the Wolverine film (Chopper VS Bike) and two characters more who are now ubiquitous through Marvel. Thus, I would say to people waiting for Mr Sinister, etc, could be waiting a long, long time. Actually, the Wolverine set is based off a comic. It was discussed here earlier. Someone MOCed up a cliff and did a scene from the comic with it. Quote

King of Nynrah Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 I highly doubt that LEGO will release an exclusive Comic-Con set - they've never done that before, only minifigure packs and other merchandise. The Super Heroes minifigures released at last year's Comic-Con were labelled as "Preview Edition", and as such Superman was released a few months after in 6862. The Batman released was described as wearing his "The Dark Knight Rises" suit, and we know that the minifigures were previews for those going to be released worldwide in sets at some point. An extract from a news article that emerged around the same time as LEGO revealed their obtaining of the DC and Marvel licenses: "WB and Lego already had been producing toys and videogames around the Batman franchise, and will launch a new set of playthings around next summer's "The Dark Knight Rises" through the Lego Batman collection. "Lego Batman: The Videogame," published by WB Bros. Interactive Entertainment, has sold more than 12 million units since 2008." (Source) It is unlikely that the third preview minifigure, movie Green Lantern, will be released (at the moment Warner Bros are undecided about a sequel and considering a reboot), I can't see this minifigure being released in a widely released set. Still, all this evidence points towards LEGO planning to release at least one TDKR set sometime (the news article says "summer"). So, why would they release a Comic-Con exclusive TDKR set containing a Comic-Con worldwide preview minifigure? It doesn't make sense to me. Quote

SoupOrFishOil Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 I'd like to see all of them too, but I'm not getting my hopes up, especially for Cyborg. Quote
