Blake Baer Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 The Nazgûl were they, the Ringwraiths, the Úlairi, the Enemy's most terrible servants; darkness went with them, and they cried with the voices of death. Their steeds were winged creatures: if birds, then greater than all other birds, and were naked, and neither quill nor feather did they bear, and their vast pinions were as webs of hide between horned fingers; and they stank. Creature of an older world maybe. Vultures upon the weak....--"Silmarillion"/"Return of the King" Hey all, After my respective failure with the dragon Smaug, I decided to try my hand at another dragon by joining Sean's contest. Indeed, my axe is rather dull when it comes to dragons, so I hoped to hone my axe a little bit through this contest. I have no expectations of placing but I wanted to show some support for my good friends Sean and Steph. That said, I hope you like it! General Magma Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 (edited) The same things I said on Flickr can be applied here - it looks great, the best part for me would have to be the body with its legs. The little scene you made for it looks great and is nicely detailed as well. Just one thing though: orcs had black blood, but oh well, the blood wouldn't look as good in black colors here as it does in red, I bet. Guess that's one of the reasons you used that. Very nice job overall. Looking forward to see more LOTR MOCs from you. ~ General Magma Edited February 29, 2012 by General Magma Quote
Im a brickmaster. Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Well! I have to say thats a very nice looking dragon, I like the use of cape's for the wings. Nice job! Quote

I will hopefully be pulling off another large creation this summer. Regarding the orc blood issue: While I knew it was black, I thought red would help add color to the normally bland scene. I didn't want it to look too dark. Thanks for the replies guys! Quote
Masked Builder Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Great MOC Blake! I hope to see you revisit this guy, he's great as he is but I'm not too sure about the head. Quote
RPGer Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 I'm just speechless.......this is fantasticly plain And if you were a enemy...well it'd be quick. , but hey, sometimes you don't win! Quote
JackJonespaw Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 I have a few words to say. I. Love. Every. Single. Bit. Of. This. MOC! This is fantastic! I think it would be better for the Nazgul to sport Darth Maul's (2011) torso instead of Luke's. Just my opinion. Quote
brickmack Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Looks nice, though the head is a bit meh... too flat, I think. Otherwise, wonderful. Quote
Hive Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Looks great! Impressive work. Though, as 90 % of my LOTR-knowledge stems from the 3 movies, I'm a bit puzzled: why have they attacked orcs? Quote
Apple Pi Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Great MOC! Incredible details, Blake! Just loved the nazgul neck! Quote
Mencot Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 I will reply on this here too, because it is so awesome. You got Talent Quote

purpleparadox Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Wow! Great MOC! Is that a custom Orc laying face-up on the ground in the last picture? I don't recognize that face. Quote

dr jones Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 This is so awesome! I love it that there are more and more LOTR moc's coming out now. And yours is just topnotch. Maybe a little static, but it still rocks some serious... you know... But one little nerdy nickpick. It isn't a dragon... The Nâzgul's mounts aren't dragons, they are some kind of unknown species. in the books they're described as birdlike, and Tolkien describes them as 'fell beasts'. Because of this, most people call them Fellbeasts. Little nerd rant over. Quote
purpleparadox Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Atlantis Portal Emperor Oh. I'm not that familiar with the Atlantis theme. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Epic work Blake Baer! This creation would have deserved the front page! TOP WORK! Quote
Combee Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 This is very cool. I love how you made the wings! Quote
Palathadric Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Very nice back. This is, I don't know how to say it, probably the most unconventional brick built monster I've seen, but very good. Nice use of parts, especially ones that no one else would think of using. Would like to see a close up picture of the head though. It doesn't look quite detailed enough for the rest of the body, but maybe it's just me. Very nice though, in general. Good work. Quote

Erynion Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 That's amazing! I'd love to see something similar to this made into a set! Hmm, I don't really go for the wings made out of the capes, nor the spikes on the back made out of the minifigure arms. They're both a little... too strange of a use of those parts for me. But other than that, it looks really good. Quote
SirSven7 Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 If the ninjago dragons looked as sinster as that I might have picked up a couple, brilliant build Quote
legolord Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Hey, Blake, great work on this new Moc, I have been following your Lotr Mocs, and I seriously think that you are one of the best Lotr creators. In my opinion the dragon looks a little darker than in the movies but still it is the best color for it. I think you should make a larger moc next time. Congrats and keep the hard work. Quote
