Very clean look and feel to these, I could see good use of them for an elite knight/nobleman.

Those decals are very nicely designed. I hope there are people who have used it, could also shared the actual printed decals on the minifigs. Thanks for sharing.

"b00sted", huh? Very apt choice of name. :hmpf_bad:

The board member you "got the idea from" was me. This is the original thread from eleven months ago is here:

http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53081&st=0&p=947782&fromsearch=1entry947782

For example, let's compare mine with "yours":

Falcon03.jpgfalcon_noble1.png

You didn't simply get an idea from me, you wholesale ripped off my work.

You simply threw a couple of new belt buckles on top of my decals, then you switched the emblems and recoloured some of them. This is not cool, not cool at all. I would be happy, thrilled in fact, if I had inspired you to create some work of your own. But that is very clearly not what has happened here.

Many people put a lot of effort into this site, and all of us active in the minifig customisation forum publish our work for free for the benefit of the community. I find your behaviour is very disapointing indeed. The decent thing to do would have been to admit in your original post that you were recolouring my images, and if you were feeling generous, link to my thread.

In fact, I'm not sure what amazes me more:

A) the fact that you had the nerve to imply that this was your own work,

B) that you're hypocritical enough to try to discourage others from doing to you exactly what you did to me,

C) or that you've essentially solicited your plagerism for sale.

You've also failed to correct the inaccuracies in my Falcon emblem, and (looking at the armoured breastplates) you didn't even bother to erase the corners of the original belt buckles or keep the belt thinkness the same!

Thanks for the accurate details you gave us, ED-209. It's sad to see these things happen in a frienly and open community like Eurobricks. :sceptic:

Please, b00sted follow ED-209's suggestion and give due credit for the base work you merely modified. Just saying you do not remember the member's name or can't find the original thread is a poor excuse, and to 'copyright' your material when you did not respect others' work is pretty hypocritical indeed.

If you do not fix your first post and keep a cleaner way in the future, I'll have to remove your versions of the decals and ban you from this community.

I was inspired from his work so I recreated from it didnt jsut copy over it but feel free to close lock this thread or whatever you would like to do with it.. here is a high res output of one of mine just for a lil more proof that I just didnt seal but spent hours making the stuff.

so here is how it is fully because after reading this post a few time it honestly got me pretty pissed off after the hours and hours of work I put into the decals which I honestly dont even still know how to even use myself as of yet. so here is a rundown in the life of b00sted.

1. was filling nostalgic bought a old lego set..

2. bought a whole bunch more..

3. found this site then few more about customs

4. started downloading decals everwhere I could find them

5. opened up photoshop and started to tinker with some of my own

6. i am not really good so opened up folder of decals found some i liked used pen tool to trace elements out I like and make my own.

7. we end up here now pissed off in this thread.

So what I will do to rectify this is post and give credit to where least I know two of my traces came from which one was you.. and one was this guy.. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=61489 past that I have no clue where the logo's etc came from. I think some where from flickr, classic castle etc.

I hope this explains some of issues and shows you why even though completely diffrent it is still the same. I didnt mean to offend you by "stealing" your work by any means. I am not trying to sell any of these either if that is something that came across in my post. I would love to get someone to maybe make me a custom fig with my decals maybe at some point though..

Please, do not be all fired up. The only reason for this discussion is that your opening post seemed to imply you did the whole work on these decals. You could have just stated that you worked to improve/modify others' works (maybe specifying what you did change from the originals) and felt you wanted to share them here. Nobody says you did not spend time on these versions. What we find un-cool is your using someone else's design without crediting it (always try to keep trace of where the originals come from to give due credit) and then ask people not to do the same thing to your versions.

I can see your point, but you have to get to know the customisers' community etiquette if you want to be part of it.

I hope you'll still share your future decals with us, giving due credit where it belongs, and growing together with our community. :classic:

Ah, so I see belt buckles and other details you added simply came off frogstudio's images. I hadn't realised that, but I suppose it explains why the belts have different thicknesses on the knights - although it means you've done two people a disservice rather than one.

It's been brought to my attention by other members that you were also posting the images on Classic Castle, and I do thank you for adding the explanation in your edit:

http://www.classic-castle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=21681

To sum up, I'm not upset at what you did, just the way that you went about presenting it as your original work.

If you'd simply been honest and open in your original post and said something like:

"I wanted to see frogstudio's belt buckles on ED-209's decals" or even:

"I saw some other people's images and thought I'd combine them together. Sorry I can't remember/find the threads of the original work though."

then there wouldn't have been a problem. I'd have just replied that I'm one of the original guys and linked to the earlier thread.

I'm prepared to trust that this has just been an honest mistake.

That all being said, if I may offer some constructive feedback: you're obviously talented enough to be doing good work. If you're going to trace images, why not go to the source and use the original Lego images as a base? There's going to be no confusion there, and you'd be capturing the asthetic of the originals. Both http://www.bricklink.com and http://www.peeron.com have extensive catalogues of parts. I'd love to see you do peasant garb in different colours with different belts, daggers and pouches. Or a Crownie torso recoloured as a classic Dragon knight. Or Viking belts on a bare-chested barbarian, or all the factions from the original "Yellow Castle" done in the modern style! There's tonnes of material and variation there - and that's without even scratching the surface of coming up with your own imagery, logos or factions - which I'm sure you could do too.

One final thought, Peeron has a great CMYK colour chart that you can use to make sure you're using the right shades to match the plastic and will look their best when applied to minifigs. :classic:

thanks for all the feedback, and that was my main goal tbh, I just could not find good head on shots so that is why I went with what i found. Once I learn how to apply these myself I wanted to have a complete classic army for each faction. I do apologize how I worded my first post and once I get everything back sorted up I will make a better one with proper credits. over at the cc forums I put links to both ur posts for now for credit also!
