Jakon Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 (edited) so, to kick off my village, I started with the Blacksmith, one of the most essential things to all villages and towns, he makes weapons, and tools, he repairs broken objects and a great many other things WIP Konugard Pt. 1 Blacksmith by Jakon B.Rytight, on Flickr The roof, eventually this will be covered with cheese slopes WIP Konugard Pt. 1 Blacksmith by Jakon B.Rytight, on Flickr Humphrey Basrine, the smith himself, he lives in this house with his wife, Ashley Basrine, and two sons WIP Konugard Pt. 1 Blacksmith by Jakon B.Rytight, on Flickr The chimney, and snow on the outside WIP Konugard Pt. 1 Blacksmith by Jakon B.Rytight, on Flickr An overview of the forge itself WIP Konugard Pt. 1 Blacksmith by Jakon B.Rytight, on Flickr and the interior house, I've started the wood panaling, and have put in a table WIP Konugard Pt. 1 Blacksmith by Jakon B.Rytight, on Flickr The upstairs attic where the children sleep WIP Konugard Pt. 1 Blacksmith by Jakon B.Rytight, on Flickr Overview of the mantle WIP Konugard Pt. 1 Blacksmith by Jakon B.Rytight, on Flickr And look! the fireplace lights up! Legonardo Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Awesome! Are you going to build this as one huge moc? or lots of small sections like me? Quote

CptMugwash Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 I would have thought the most essential building of every town and village would be a tavern, especially in Mitgardia Looking good so far, the trans red bar and holder is a great idea for the red hot metal ready to be smithed. It's kinda hard to not associate everything Mitgardian with Skyrim but, this blacksmiths does remind me of one. If you plan on adding more things to the smith area, I've seen a cool wetstone somewhere and you could do a workbench too with a piece of armour on or a finished set of armour on display or something, I'm sure you've got plenty of ideas. The forge fire looks good I think the anvil is a bit big though. The house is coming along nicely, I do like that fireplace and the axe above the mantel and ooo pretty lights The standard is pretty cool but I think the axe needs reworked. I look forward to seeing it completed perhaps we can sell some of your fine armour and weapons in Samrd'dha Quote
Jakon Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 Thanks! I actually just put in the workbench and whet-stone you were talking about, so those where great ideas, but, what's wrong with the axe? Quote
Rolli Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Ha! Finally someone else that also uses cheese slopes for roof building! I'm curious, how yours will look like in the end! The current version is a bit too flat in my opinion but maybe thats just because I like them a bit steeper. But: I definitely like the fireplace - great idea! (I'm currently working on my own town (also cheese slope roofs) but i think that i will have to build everything apart. Still have too few of them (~3K) Expensive, expensive ;) ) Best regards, looking forward to the finished blacksmith and your other planned houses (is there a list of what you are going to build? Just curious..) rolli / Sir Moriartus Quote
Jakon Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 I have several hundred dollars to spend and I'm afraid those white cheese slopes will rob me blind, of and for the buildings, all on this map. Map Of Konugard by Jakon B.Rytight, on Flickr Quote
CptMugwash Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Thanks! I actually just put in the workbench and whet-stone you were talking about, so those where great ideas, but, what's wrong with the axe? To me it looks a bit styalised, it's just my personal taste but I think something more like this would look good. If the handle were slightly wider and the blades have more of a curve it would look nicer and maybe a spike on top too. Just an idea but if you're happy with the current design it's fine. Done. Or something like the one above the mantle. Quote
Jakon Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 Oh, yeah, it does need to curve a bit more.... Quote

Thank you, very much, I'm hoping to start a overall theme for my village with this. Any advice, criticism? If so, I'd very much like to hear it. Quote
Captain BeerBeard Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Are you going to be able to finish that roof? You could probably achieve a very similar look with a lot less parts. Quote
Etzel Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 You know, it's not a bad MOC you have there. But your photography leaves much to ask for, it's out of focus and lacks clean background. If you improve your pictures, your MOCs will looks much nicer too. Quote
Blaze Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I agree with beerbeard, but if you have that amount of cheese slopes than it does create a cool look. I myself dont have that much cheese so I like to use them on different things. Some ideas are very original! Like the use of a red lightsaber as hot metal and the big oven. Looking forward to THE completed Moc, but etzel is right, better pictures really improve a moc, as strange as it might seem. Quote
Jakon Posted March 17, 2012 Author Posted March 17, 2012 The houses will be varying styles, cheese for colonists, planks for the Norse, slate for the dwarves, and thatch for the druids and hobbits. I am currently also in the process of getting a tripod, as my hands are only steady when holding a firearm. Quote
