gotoAndLego Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I took a crack at making a town-sized camper van. While 4-Wide is cool, I think it needs to be 6-wide. Quote
MetroiD Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Looks great to me! And I must admit I beg to differ - to me, the li'l Camper needs to remain 4-wide for as long as possible. If there's one thing I could suggest for yours, it would be to try and lower it down a bit. It looks way too high for its width, so perhaps removing a few studs' worth of height would work wonders there. I'm loving the "added roof" section though - brilliant touch! Quote
gotoAndLego Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 I agree that its too tall I plan on revising this design. I did get some of the ideas from another builder on Flickr. What funny is the roof stickers are still there from some Star Wars set. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Great looking Kombi van 'gotoAndLego', only the wheels I have an issue with but besides that it's EXCELLENT ! Brick On Drive On 'gotoAndLego' ! Quote
Brickmamba Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Nice rendition, but maybe a little tall Quote
brickmack Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 A tad tall, but still great. I like the use of the cheese slopes on the front to replicate that curved color change. Quote
JackJonespaw Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 This is quite nice. It has a chibi feel to it. Quote
MetroiD Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 You could have a look at the one in my sig for inspiration / ideas. I've used Ralph Savelsberg's door design, so half of the build was really dependent on that, but it still served its purpose pretty well. In hindsight, I (and Ralph too, for that matter) seem to have apparently jumped the gun on VW Camper vans, seeing as they're so much in demand right now. Quote
doink Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 I love this - how do you get the cheese wedges to go upside down though? Or are they just not secured? Many thanks Quote

It looks good but I tried not to used stickers. I love this - how do you get the cheese wedges to go upside down though? Or are they just not secured? This with the arm up is flipped over and held on by a clip. Unfortunately this is also why its so tall. The six wide version I'm finishing uses a different technique and therefore is better proportioned. Edited February 26, 2012 by gotoAndLego Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Damn, great details on that, definitely would like to see it bigger Quote
