Xyver Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 With all the new residents of Naiaville, and the recent Motel being built, the bank needed an upgrade. The new branch is now open for business, though the offices upstairs are yet to be fitted out. Front Right side Ground floor Foyer Teller Safe First Floor And her it is in Long Street Please let me know what you think and what areas you would improve/change, I really value your feedback. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 'Xyver', nice design....very loud colour wise dude, though the interior of the bank is old school with those bars....is your design based on again real or not ? Highly original it is, though the amount of yellow is a bit much....lets see what other people have to add. Brick On 'Xyver' ! Quote
AwesomeTaylor Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 The yellow looks great! You might want to consider adding some more gray to the facade to match the lower floor walls, and a darker roof, but otherwise this looks awesome! Quote
Jargo Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 this building seems really bloated. kinda suits fat cat bankers but perhaps you could consider swapping the roof segments for a darker colour and dropping the height of each floor one brick. also and this is just a nitpick, the city bank sign is dark blue so perhaps adding more of that colour might help slim the building down. is there a reason for the 'chimney'? if it's to break up the flat roof space can I suggest a 2x2 brick with a 2x2 turntable base tile on top might work as a small air con vent. the chimney looks a little odd without a chimney stack and fireplaces inside. I do like the upper floor exterior though. the awning works really well with the arches. and the curved roof is nice. Quote
gotoAndLego Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Its a unique design so i like it, but I'll mirror the other opinions that its too much yellow. You might conside adding breaking up the yellow on the second floor. For example, keep the walls yellow, but make the facade with the arches grey and make the roof above the arches that you currently have as yellow and black as all black. Quote
Xyver Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 Thanks for the comments. LT, this design came straight out of my imagination. My fire station did too, but as it turns out it looks remarkably like my local fire station, which has a similar sloping roof, but only a single level and I'm not sure where the vehicles actually go, so that one might have been subconcious. The reason for all the yellow is because I have a lot of yellow and wanted to do something with it. I've changed the 1st floor exterior a little bit, changed the side angles to grey and added a couple of grey bricks to the middle. I've also added some grey slops to the roof, again just to break up all the yellow. and the grey on top was supposed to be an aircon unit, just did something quickly last night before putting up the photos, this one is a bit better I think Quote
Brickmamba Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Nice looking bank, the choice to use yellow is very 'striking' Quote
gotoAndLego Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 (edited) That looks better. Try continuing the grey lines all the way across including the wall that has the black windows. If you start with one yellow plate below that first grey btick you might like the way it looks with a very thin yellow line at the bottom of the second floor. Regardless, that curved wall technique is a good one for you to use considering you said you don't have a lot of experience MOCing. Edited February 25, 2012 by gotoAndLego Quote
JackJonespaw Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Looks very nice! The inside could have more inside, though. Quote
