AlexScammer Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) I had made a few tries to customize a figure by paining myself, and the results are not impressive neither myself, nor for the audience. If you remember my two custom Marvel minifig waves (one, two), you have seen the horrible painting made on the parts. What I have heard from some people on this and the other forum, that acrylic paint is a good yet cheap paint for customizing. I am a rookie at this, so I can't tell if it is, or not, but are there different kinds of acrylic paint for plastic and just for painting? And is there any other good paint that can be found at the stores, with a decent price? I will be glad to hear from any customizers on this forum! Edited February 20, 2012 by AlexScammer Quote
Darkdragon Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 HI I'm not a top customizer by any means, but I used Michael's store brand for my Mrs Claus customs. I did use a clear coat from Citadel which I was very happy with. I did find that if I diluted the paint too much on my base coat it wouldn't grip onto the shiny plastic. Quote
AlexScammer Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 Actually, those are the exact problems I am not happy with. But the worst is the lumps. When I only add one layer, many places remain unpainted. But when I add more layers - lumps appear... Quote
