Hello again my fellow LEGO Fans, I have with me today my next instalment of my blog, The Drak Forest, click on the link if you fancy a trip down memory lane (p.s there should be no problems with it now in explorer).

The Lego Dark Forest

To any admins out there is it possible for me to get these put in the review index as I think they are quite relevent and most have now been relagateed to the back pages (which would not help a newbie looking for them), I am happy to put them all into one post if you like.

Cheers again

Again a great review!

A faction that never reached Sweden... :cry_sad: These fellas looks really intresting! But of course the wolfpacks are way cooler! The large set with all the details is a set I would love to have!!

Nice review :classic:

I have no memory of these guys  , granted I was 9 at the time, I have a fairly good memory for things (most of the time).

Another great read!

I've been enjoying your blog for some time now. In fact, it's because of your review on the Forestmen line that I missed out on by some years that I'm now looking at a Forestmen's Hideout I just got through from eBay, along with plans to collect some of the others.

Well done, looking forward to the next installment!

I never knew about this subtheme until a few years ago on BL. I'm not a fan over-all, it's not Forestmen & it's not Wolfpack and it's just a rehash mishmash of the two. The first set seems okay, the second looks ridiculous and has too many big parts. The alternate build looks way better. I would've thought that the small grey thing is not a fountain but maybe a well with a water pump? The large set looks pretty good though, but still has too many big parts. (Of course, this was common in the 90s and even up to recent times)

I'm fortunate to own this entire series. I think the Dark Forest Fortress is a great set that is often overlooked. I'm sure in the right hands, some really clever MOCing could be done to it.

Thank you for sharing. It was an interesting read.

Unfortunately, we can't accede to this request. The Eurobricks LEGO Pictorial Review index is meant for the EB Reviewers who have done a detailed review, accompanied with own taken pictures and written text. In this case, this does not apply.

Also note, off site reviews, reviews without images or broken links are not included as well.

Another interesting post, Lego and I had parted company during this period so I'd never really seen any of these. They do have that distinct air of a lack of ideas about them. As for that Stronghold set, it's hard to believe anyone thought that was a good idea, it's just a complete mish-mash. Although given that this was the year of Time Cruisers, maybe that was just in vogue in TLG at the time.

Good to read another review from you so soon, SirSven7.

While I like the Forestmen sets better (except for the black trees), I prefer the DF figs, since they look more rag-tag, or "darker". Considering that a Forestman theme seems to be in demand (or maybe it's just among AFOLs?), it's funny that TLG's attempt didn't work out so well.

How about pinning a master thread, which would include links to all previous blog posts?

Yeah I like this idea, it could be next to the historical misprints post, we could call it 'theme overviews', yeah that would be great :sweet:

They did something similiar for me in the pirate index

Dark Forest was never released where I live... I think I was 11 back then. Luckily, me and my family went on vacation to the US that year, where I first saw these sets, and I was instantly in love with the Fortress. I BEGGED my parents to buy it for me (they didn't believe it wasn't available back home) and was eventually able to pursuade them.

I said it in a previous review of yours: these were my Lego golden ages. I had a few of the classic castle sets, but almost all of the Wolfpack, Dragon Masters, Royal Knights, Dark Forest and Fright Knights. Good times.

I always preferred the Forestmen over Dark Forest-probably because the Dark Forest was during my dark ages-but one thing that was a great improvement was the use of brown for the trees. It's a color that I'm shocked took them so long to include. Black never did it for me for tree trucks and limbs.

Great overviews, SirSven7! I love reading them and really look forward to your take on the Jellybean Knights. I'm one of the few people apparently that really like the look of those ones. Yeah I'm crazy.

cheers for the comments guys.

Jelly bean knights will be coming soon (I have fright knights, knights kingdom 1 and then those guys) I was going to do ninja first but I have been having a real problem finding all the sets, I only review the sets I own or have a had a chance to get a real good look at (like going to my cousins homes and building there collections or creating the sets from my bits box).

so I am going to need a little longer before I tackle them (they are hard to find).

From what I have seen so far not everything about those sets from the mid 2000s are terrible, but you'll have to wait for the full review for the rest.

cheers all and thanks again, Fright Kinghts will be up in a couple of weeks.
