My first MOC on these forums! :sweet:

To my knowledge, although there are plenty of Enterprise bridge MOCs out there (including dozens of the original Star Trek Captain's Chair), no one has yet created an Intrepid-Class Captain's Chair as seen on Star Trek Voyager. At least not that I have seen. Voyager being my favorite series, I decided to give it a go. It actually took a lot longer to design than I thought it would! But I am very happy with the result.

It is minifigure-scale, which prevented me from adding some of the smaller details like the brown chair cushions or the retracting data display without ruining the sleek shape, but I think it came out very well. The chairs look quite wide in comparison to the actual set, but if I kept their original shape, they would have come out much too tall. Nevertheless, it's a small price to pay for a minifig-scaled bridge set :) I already ordered the parts off of bricklink and can't wait to get them! This little baby is 104 pieces not counting the minifigures.

As for the minifigs themselves, I am custom making them with the Voyager uniforms. Naturally, Captain Janeway will take the Captain's chair. Rather than having Chakotay in the First Officer's seat, I decided to place myself (in minifig-form, of course) in his place. I ordered 3 different hair pieces for Janeway because no one piece perfectly matches her hair on the show. I'll have to see which looks best once I get them in.

I will add more pictures once I build the set, and then again when the uniforms and minifigs are complete. Thanks for looking!

This is nice Thea Neotera, it's missing the little computer (but you've mentioned why), I cant wait to see your take on Lego Janeway though.

Good work, the sleek design is perfect. Voyager is my favourite series too, can't wait to see the Janeway fig. Now, if only they made Voyager sets... *sigh*

If only! That would be awesome. Maybe I'll try my hands at the Delta Flyer one day. I think it would be an interesting build since it lacks the blocky shape of the TNG shuttles.

This is nice, however, I would like to see more added. The chair is just a bit plain by itself.

That's what I thought at first too, so I tried to add the railing and console that hovers just behind the chairs. The console looked good and I got to use the computer display tiles. But the railing looked much too bulky. So then I thought I might add the CONN station, but that requires a huge gap of nothing but grey carpeting between them.

After playing around with these alternatives, I decided to just stick to the basics. Aside from the full-bridge reproductions, most of the Star Trek sets I saw just utilize a tiny portion (usually around the Captain's chair) of the bridge. Maybe one day I'll add to it bit by bit. Who knows... I might end up with the entire bridge eventually! LoL.

On another note, I think I finally figured out why Star Wars sets are so much more popular than Star Trek sets. The ships/sets don't require nearly the same amount of greebles and oddities. Star Trek sets are sleek, simple, and usually symmetrical. Star Wars sets tend to be the opposite... which makes for a much better build.

I wish that I could add more to this little display, but I will be building the Star Wars Imperial Shuttle shortly after moving to my new place. And I'm desperately being convinced not to display LEGO everywhere like I did at my old place. That shuttle will be huge, so I don't know how much more room I'll have on the tiny little shelf I'll most likely be restricted to
