  1. 1. Which style do you prefer?

    • The old, stilyzed one. Absolutely!
    • The new version is better looking.
    • It depends on single creature, but usually I prefer the stylized version.

    • It is the same for me.

It depends on which animal, but I almost always prefer the new version.

I remember being so excited about my first printed owl! It was awesome! Old versions are best used as sculptures, etc. Because they don't have enough details (IMO) to be realistic animals.

I sure hope the new Lord of the Rings horses will be compatible with the older ones. From the looks of it, though, they should be.

Do you just mean visually compatible, or are you asking whether the old horse accessories will fit the new ones? The new horses have quite different faces (notably, you can see their eyes from the front as well as from the side). You could potentially use both types of horse in a scene together, but the different head shape means that much of the old barding probably won't work with the new mold.

Actually, having seen the newer horses at Toy Fair, I think that all the old horse accessories should work just fine on the new horses. I could be wrong, but while the faces are slightly more complex, the overall sizes of the heads and bodies have stayed roughly the same.

That makes sense - it's one thing for them to invest in redesigning just the horses themselves, and the additional new articulation could easily justify that, but it's probably something else entirely for them to have to redo all the various bardings, saddles, etc. because of it. If they could produce a more articulated new horse while still fitting as many of the old equine accessory items as possible, that's presumably the way they'd want to go, for cost reasons.

I meant both, kind of. Visually they should be okay, though, in my opinion.

It would be a real pain if the bardings don't work.
