In lieu of LEGO's recently released images of their nine Fellowship of the Ring minifigures, my hand has been forced. Hence, this preview!

Here are my figures of the Fellowship - all of which were designed, if not completed, before LEGO's announcement that they would be making LOTR sets. (To those of you who aren't yet aware, I ironically assigned myself the project of designing full LOTR sets this past summer. After I'd already funneled away lots of time and money towards this end, lo and behold, LEGO goes and declares their intent to do exactly the same... since I can't think of any way out but forward, my project continues). There were a number of really interesting (and now evident) parallels between my and and LEGO's minifigure design processes, which of course serves to bug me a bit...

But enough whining about unfortunate coincidence. Here's my Fellowship!

More detailed photos, and the photos of the complete Fellowship of the Ring sets are forthcoming! Thanks for viewing!

I'm intrigued to find out how you made the ring  this is fantastic!

He sanded down the stud on a gold 1x1 plate, which reveals the hole underneath it.

Aaron these figs are wonderful, and make great use of the BF products, as they were meant to be used. :)

These look amazing. Especially Aragorn, Gandalf, and Sam. The only things I would change about these are Boromir (I can't think any other way of doing him, but the face doesn't fit IMO) and Merry (The face just doesn't look like him to me). The rest look perfect, however. Great job.

Yeah, I definitely noticed in the BF lineup some very clearly-LOTR-influenced parts, and I've tried to use those to their best effect. Maybe you guys should just sponsor me, I'm already a walking advertisement.

I chose the Boromir face mostly for its beard and changeable expression - he can smile in a sorta off-putting way, i.e. "Look at how pretty that ring is..." As for Merry, I'd disagree with you, and say that if anything, it's his hair that looks out of place.

Your figs are great! I really prefer the helmet you used on Gimli rather than what LEGO has. It's also great to see the hobbits with different hair.

Thanks - personally, though, I much prefer the new LEGO Hobbit hair.

Nice to see your fellowship, these all look really good with beautifully designed decals and imo some really well chosen Lego faces and hair etc.

It's funny how the still relatively simplistic style of Lego faces allows the viewer to 'fill-in-the-blanks', Boromir was instantly my favourite and I thought the face to be an excellent match. Incidentally, I don't recognise that particular face - who is it supposed to be really?

Great work, very interesting to see your customs and the upcoming figures.

Boromir's face is from the Pirates of the Caribbean Admiral Norrington figure. A favourite of mine, so I recognised it straightaway.

Thanks Rumble Strike. I wonder if knowing who a Lego face is supposed to represent makes it harder to accept as someone else (strokes beard in a ponderous way).

Well, it's not really the face that puts me off, but more the color of the beard, since the beard is brown and the hair is red.

The thing that makes me think the Merry face isn't right is that I never saw Merry in the movies to be the type to smirk....

Then again, I haven't watched them in a while, so I could be wrong.
