Lamanda2 Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Ok, me again, first off I am sorry about all my topics here, what clutter... From now on I can just update this topic so you don't have to deal with my mess. Now, I got him finished last night and listed him. Definately took alot of work because I needed to make the decal, hair, shoulder plate, wristband, and sword, but I think he turned out great. (Of coarse, my Cloud is now jealous, so I think he'll be getting a makeover. :-P Here is the auction link: Cloud Strife Comments always welcome, especially on my new sword design. ~Amanda
Starwars4J Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Very nice, though the hair looks somewhat more malleable than the Goku hair, was it made differently? I didn't even notice the wristband until you mentioned it though, excellent detail! :-D And for some reason I like your old sword better, the handguards look a bit too long, and it just looks too thick in general as compared to the sword blade (which I would have thought would be thicker and sharper a bit at the blade edge). Nice handle though :-) The shoulder guard is perfect though @_@ Overall great fig that I'm sure will satisfy any FF7 fan. And I'd be jealous too if I were your Cloud :-P (it's really excellent work)
Lamanda2 Posted October 16, 2006 Author Posted October 16, 2006 Thanks. The hair was made the same way, but I couldn't find yellow spraypaint anywhere to coat it with, so it is not nice and glossy. Actually, the Goku piece was the first thing I ever did that with, and I shall continue that method from now on. I could really kick myself though, because I found the spraypaint at Walmart today.. oh well, at least I can use it for Super Saiyan hair coating. :-) Yeah, but this is my first attempt using this method, I created another tonight that turned out nicer in my opinion, but I do think I still will need to file the edge down a bit to make it look sharper. Here's a question for you now- Which one of my previous sword designs do you like better? Thanks for the comment about the Shoulder guard, I made it from sculpey, but unfortunately it is not a removable piece, as I could not figure how to do it any other way. Yep, I just had to make the wristband from sculpey, on the real Cloud it is just too close to the hand, so a decal just wouldn't cut it. X-D ~Amanda
Starwars4J Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Well, interestingly enough I have to say my favorite sword is your (by now famous) ski-mod sword. I think it's because it used modded official pieces that makes it look more official (something which I do like). Also, you find your spray at Walmart? Is that the best place to get it that you know? What brand do you use? Also, while I'm on a torrent of rapid questions, where do you buy your sculpy from? I've been meaning to give it a try, but I don't know where would be best (no hobby shops around here that I know of) Keep up the great work, and good luck with the auction! With quality pieces like this, I don't think anyone minds the threads one bit ;-)
Lamanda2 Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 I think that is my favorite as well, just looks nice and Lego like, though I do think it could be thinner. If I can ever get a weapon molded, it'll be my version of the Buster, it would probably look cool in other colors. Yep, found a large variety of spraypaint at Walmart. I use Krylon brand spray paints, the fusion type works wonders for painting Lego elements. The Sculpey I get at my local craft store, it is roughly $1 a package, so you might want to pick up a couple colors if you are going to try it out. (Though I guess that depends on how long a drive to the craft store you have. ;-) ) Thanks, I have been very pleased with my Lego auctions lately, definately makes all the work worth while. :-) ~Amanda
