with separate drive motors I wonder if it would have been useful to control them separately, then you could have braked/not driven the back wheels which might have helped with the descent.

I frankly doubt it. This model is too likely to loose traction and to lift wheels off the ground for effective braking.

is the lack of steering outweighed by better traction when you lose the diffs?

Lack of steering? It steers quite well, as you can see in the video. You can also see that without the differentials it climbs most obstacles at first try.

Do you think the power puller tyres make a big difference?

They certainly do. They are heavy, big and wide, so they lower the center of gravity, improve ground clearance and provide better traction. At the same time, they require more torque to drive.

Nice video,I just want it for the motors.

In fairness it's a great model it's not all about motors ;(

I wonder are power puller tires going to become more expensive and hard to get now? They have proper rubber not like newer tires :)

Wow, another video, it's the official tlg advertisement. of course the performance is exaggerated  But it looks nice either way.

Isn't it shocking how similar that course looks to a Truck Trial course.

There's a bit of hype in the official video ("It climbs ANY obstacle"), but it's a nice video anyway. This model will be real popular in the USA because offroad trucks are not a rare sight.

A new video showing two of three 2h sets by osuharding1. The sets are on the shelves of toysrus, which probably relates to my purchase of the crawler today :sweet: at toysrus ebay.

he says the 9398 isn't on the shelf. But the video does show the 9396 in stock at a "reduced" price of $139 :thumbdown: ...unlikely that the 20% discount applies either.
