Piranha Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 One day I was thinking of a reply of "why do you like collectible figs" topic and I thought that they are cool because every new series we get 16 new minifigs, some that would work well in existing themes and others from completely new concepts like Circus, Greek, Roman etc. That is what I think makes them so extremely popular. Then I got to thinking what if TLG did a theme of one off sets? Now I know this might sound a bit quirky, but just think about it every wave or series there could be maybe 5 or so sets not large or small, maybe 200 or so parts, each is unique and not related to the other except by maybe packaging and the whole theme it would come under. And no I know what you are thinking of and this is not an idea for time cruisers again . For example lets say in the first releases we had these sets; Western Bank Greek Battle Circus Scene Space Ship Forestmen Forest I think the real possibility is sort of testing the market with all these different theme ideas without having to commit to an overall large theme with multiple sets but one off ideas. That would be a great way to do a lot of theme concepts that many have been hoping for to come someday. I think they would sell pretty well. The beauty would be that the set ideas are limitless like collectible figs. This would provide complimentary sets as well as new ideas. What do you think? Whacky idea or next big thing? CLOSED: Basically CM sets, better to imagine your own.
K-Nut Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I'm not sure, as much as I'd love to have it done, it would take away from the individual packets themselves.
Sid Sidious Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Maybe they could make a small set or sets that would go with the figures of each series. They could be smaller sets in the $5-$10 range that wouldn't come with the minifigure. For example, a small zoo for the CM5 zookeeper or a spaceship for the CM6 spacewoman. This way the minifigs would still be exclusive or rare, and there would still be the unique sets that wouldn't appear in other themes.
badbob001 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Well, some of the CMF parts are for upcoming sets, like the elf ears for lord of the rings sets. And it seems like the monsters are getting sets:
JackJonespaw Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Like maybe a $10-$15 dollar set, without figs, for the current series' figs? Like, say, for combinations of series, like the Punk from S4 and the Guitar Player from S7? Or like just one for two or three figs? That might not do so well.
Henchmen4Hire Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 (edited) I don't see how making any particular CMF more easily available is a problem. That's fine if you guys want to spend hours of your life feeling bags or restraining the urge to fire-punch scalpers in the vas deferens so they can't reproduce and create more assclowns, that's all good and fine, I'd rather not waste energy like that though. Should TLG release small blocks of one-off sets filled with Dwarves, the various warriors so far, and Space figures, I wouldn't say a peep. Edited February 1, 2012 by DrNightmare
