hawkyboy4 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) Hey everyone, I just wanted to show off my latest MOC that I designed to show off my (purist) custom Link minifigure. I took quite a bit of inspiration and advice from "Derfel Cardarn"'s guide to building medieval scenes to design the landscape, as you'll be able to tell. Also not of my own design is the Bublin and rider, which were created by "flailx" over on flickr. However I'm proud to say I took no inspiration for Link himself, however I have noticed several others using the same design as of late. So, I present to you all, my custom Trilby Highlands: Overall view #1 My link to Link Link talking to Blacksmith Shot from river Back view Ramshackle shelter Overall view #2 Bublin and Rider View from bridge Edited January 31, 2012 by hawkyboy4 Quote
Miss Kyle Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) I love your Link!! That head is fantastic, which one is it? I guess I'll give my Link green legs, too, it just looks better than the white ones. Great landscape building, too! Edited January 31, 2012 by Miss Kyle Quote

JackJonespaw Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 This is great! I love Link! If only there was some way to do the S3 elf's ears with that hat! The Bublin is also very nice! Quote
hawkyboy4 Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 Thanks everyone. Miss Kyle, I saw your design only shortly before I posted this, so I have you to thank for getting me round to actually posting it. I do believe the head came from the old Wild West sets, as there are two versions - shorter blond hair, and longer, which I have both of, so by request I will post them both. Admittedly, I prefer Link with the broad sword (?) from the barbarian of series six. On a side note, if anyone wants to build their own Minish Cap-esque Link, simply remove the gnome cap, and add the surfer's hair from series two of the Collectable Minifigures, works like a charm. Yes, that hair piece is amazing, I think Omi made a version with the gnome hat glued to the hair last year - I think you can still find it in the Customisation Workshop. I found the head on Bricklink and put it on my Wanted List - I'll try it myself as soon as I have it :) Do you have any more Zelda MOC plans? Maybe we need a Zelda thread I'm working on the boss fight of the last dungeon in the Dark World of Link to the Past, that three-necked turtle/dragon monster. Not easy! But the new Ninjago snake designs are very inspiring! Quote
