Konajra Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Here are some photos of my latest work in progress. Ship Calypso of Capt. Jacques Cousteau. It is in a 1:40 scale which makes the final Moc around 1.05 m long. I have used around 8500 bricks when it is finished. Still a lot of work to do. The front half is all most done. All there is left to do is detail work like handrails and some bricks to close the wheelhouse. I am now starting with the other half of the ship Quote
Bayou Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Awsome ! I'm already a big fan of your work (I was a big fan of the Calypso) ! Quote
SwissBrick Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 (edited) Wow, this is brilliant! I can't wait to see it finished, there's already a lot of details and the overall looks fantastic! Excellent Konajra! Edited January 29, 2012 by SwissBrick Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 My jaw dropped 'Konajra', I can't wait to see it totally decked out ! Brick On Dive On 'Konajra' ! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Wow, this looks like a massive project! It looks fantastic so far 'Konjara', so many tiles! Keep up the great work, I look forward future updates Quote
Konajra Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 Actually there aren't that many tiles in the ship. Only the black of the hull, the dark red hatch and the top of the deck of the wheelhouse are tiles. the rest is all bricks and plates. the tan decks consists out of plates 1 x X on their side. Quote
Larrynautik Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Woaw ! This is excellent ! The complete boat will certainly be amazing, like the front part is The shape, colors and details are all well-done. Quote
L@go Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Great work, as always, and HUGE, as always! Can't wait to see it finished. Also, it's instantly recognisable as your work. Well done! Quote
sens1992 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Wow, what a fantastic MOC! Great work here. Quote
RedGiant Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 This is a great build! I will follow this closely! Quote
Konajra Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 thanks everyone, here's the result of receiving a couple of Bricklink orders: Now it's a matter of trying to get a hold of 500 tan platex 1 x 8 for not to much money. I need them for the two decks. Till the next update. Quote
L@go Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 (edited) Wow. It looks fantastic! I dug up a picture of the real thing, just to see where you're going with this, and I see you've still got a way to go: It's incredibly accurate, and it's going to look great when finished. Keep up the good work :) Edited February 12, 2012 by L@go Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Excellent job on this build so far! It's coming together very well. Looking forward to the next update Quote
Brickmamba Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Wow I'm speechless, looks great as it stands, can't wait for the finished product Quote
Danger19 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Nice work! Judging by the picture posted your model is very accurate. I love it! Quote
woolie Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 It's incredible -- my only suggestion would be to break scale a little bit on the bridge and make it large enough for a minifig to stand inside. Quote
Konajra Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 (edited) It's incredible -- my only suggestion would be to break scale a little bit on the bridge and make it large enough for a minifig to stand inside. There is allready enough space for a minifig to stand inside the bridge. Where ever there is a door a minifig can stand inside. Everthing is at least 6 bricks high. But I still need to build an interior for the bridge though. Edited February 13, 2012 by Konajra Quote
Priovit70 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 This is really awesome!!! I can't wait to see it finished... Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Outstanding work so far... has that real-life adventure look to it, and love how dedicated you have been to accuracy. Wonder if you've been listening to the as you build it? Haha Quote
tedbeard Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 This is looking fantastic. I was lucky enough to see Calypso in Halifax Harbour when I was a kid and your build looks really accurate. Quote
Konajra Posted March 5, 2012 Author Posted March 5, 2012 Thanks everyone. I have it finished. more or less that is. just need to add some more details and take some more photos. here it is: more photos on flickr Quote
L@go Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Arrrghh!! You're just so incredibly good at this - I don't know anybody who builds better boats than you do. It's absolutely stunning - I wouldn't change a single thing, except perhaps add a French flag. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and drool over those Flickr pictures :) Quote
Konajra Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 Thanks L@go, I'm not changing anything just want to add some more scuba gear. Videos of this ship are showing alot of equipment on board, so... and of course the french flag has to come. Quote
ER0L Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Fantastic! I am a huge fan of your work, and this is really really an awesome ship, perhaps one of the most accurate I have ever seen built in Lego. The hull is very ingenious, as are all the stunning details. I could look at this for hours (and will certainly do). Keep up the fantastic work! Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Beautiful work Konajra! This seems to be a great project with impressive details! Brick on... Quote
