kyzr44 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 After building the latest 4, I have to say I enjoyed the: 10211 Grand Emporium Quote
Philocrites Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I love the Green Grocer the best. I didn't find the Grand Emporium especially interesting to build, but loved the interior details and the "1932" and the fire truck in the Fire Station. I'm partway through building the Pet Shop, and am enjoying the little details on that set quite a lot. (I missed the first two in the series.) Quote
Locutis Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 My favourite has always been the 10182 Cafe Corner. Locutis Quote
streifen Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 for me, it has to be The Green Grocer! with some interior detailing and great facade, BEST! Quote
Rick Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Is there a reason why a proper poll hasn't been added to this thread yet, would be interesting to see the results Poll added. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Easy, Green Grocer is the best in my opinion ! Quote
MadManMingo Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I am continuing to believe the GG never existed. The alternative is too horrible to contemplate. I feel your pain A world where you missed out on GG would be a cruel one. But cheer up... it was all just a bad dream Quote
snaillad Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Green grocer is definately my favorite. I just sold my spare one, so now someone else gets the joy of building it! I like it because its not symmetrical. The bay looks fantastic and I remeber when I first built it I thought there was a really nice selection of figs included. The interior detailing is spot on. Still cant make a better radiator than the one in GG. For me CC is second followed by the GE. Quote

I'm very much with you on that - I have a hard time choosing between the GG and the CC, but if pressed I'd have to say GG - it's bigger and better, and it's got interior features. My affection for the CC has less to do with the building itself and more with the fact that I came out of my dark ages because of it :) Also, I agree that the GE has to be third. Personally, FB is my least favourite in the series so far. Quote

DaddyWhale Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 (edited) I've got all of them except MS, and honestly my favorite is Pet Shop. I like its scale and detail: the loft bedroom, the cellar door in the back, the bathroom, the windows in front. Its shorter height and the fact that it is actually two narrow buildings makes the scale more believable for me when put next to FB, GE, CC. I guess it's not as technically innovative as GG, but it works as a whole and as if a part of a real town. Next come GG, CC, FB and GE, more or less in that order. LEGO Guy Bri Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I have to go with the 10197 Fire Brigade. The two are great, fun builds, but they lacked an interior. I know, leaves room for customization, ect. That's a nice feature to have, or lack there of, I suppose. The GG is also very nice, but in comparison, interior wise, I like FB. There are more unique parts throughout and a very cool truck. The last three look great, but I don't own the PS and have the GE still in the box for a later build... For me, based on looks and no build, the rest are: FB, CC, GG, TH, PS, MS Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 10182 Corner Café ...first love is never forgotten! Quote
MadManMingo Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Just finished the Pet Shop last night. And I can't quiet understand why this magnificent modular gets such a relatively low rating. It really is beautifull. I felt especially warm at heart to see Jamie's old "Cafe Coner alternative" finally become a finished modular building. And who doesn't like light blue bricks!!! Unfortunately I missed out on Market street. So it's a very nice feeling to finally see a blue-ish building on my modular-strip. Maybe the explenation is, that many modular-collectors are a bit nostalgic, including my self. First love never dies So I havn't switched my Cafe Coner vote. Even though it struck me while building PS, and I had the whole street put together, that Green Grocer really is the most beautiful modular Quote
LegoDad Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Just finished my Cafe Corner, so now I have all released sets. I am still going to stick with my vote for Grand Emporium. Since CC wasn't my first to steal my modular virginity, it doesn't resonate like I think it does for others. Don't get me wrong, it is probably my #2 or 3, right there with GG, but lack of interior kills it. I will have to find my creative gene and figure out some interior, tiled floor at least. If others have MOC'd the interior of CC, post some pics, it would be appreciated. Quote
Danger19 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Last year i started out with the Grand Emporium as my first modular, through the year i bought the other modular sets except the Market Street. Something about that set i don't like. Maybe im anal but to me it doesn't look right with the other modulars. Quote
