bootz Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 No Pet Shop? I have the last 3 that came out, and I suppose I like the look of GE the best, but I also love my FB. Quote
LegoDad Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 My favorite so far is Grand Emporium, that said, I have Green Grocer coming from Bricklink, and am in the process of collecting parts for Cafe Corner, so that may change over the coming weeks. GE had what I thought the best detail inside and out. I think I like Market Street the least and paid the most for it Quote
Legobrandon Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I don't have any modular building right now (planning to get the FB soon) but my favourite would have to be the Green Grocer. The colours are just beautiful and the design of the building is just superb. It is too bad I missed out on the first 3 modular buildings. Quote
Dakar A Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 10185 Green Grocer I might move this to General discussion and news before an admin does it for you! But since I have no idea of how to do that, just sit and wait... I love the GG because A. It was my first modular, B.It is one of the biggest modulars, C.It gave me tons of modification options, and D. I live near a house that looks like it could very well be the living incarnation of it! Toadtorrent Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 ...don't forget the Pet Shop and Town Hall now!! I think the Green Grocer and Grand Emporium are the tops! Quote
adello25 Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Grand Emporium! All of the modular houses are great but the Grand Emporium is what pulled me out of my dark ages. Since then it has been a very slippery slope for my bank account! Quote
MadManMingo Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Cafe Corner: The one that startet the whole modular wave. An architechtural pearl in rare colours. Special detail: The angled corner that nobody thought possible. Green Grocer: Perhaps the most beautiful of them all. Great combination of recidential and shop. Special detail: The build-in tower on the front, and the fire-escape at the back. Fire Brigade: The american modular, and probably on of the most hyped, at the rumour-stage. I remember a phantom-drawing made from all the rumours. Couldn't stop laughing when these rumours turned out to be the small pizza place in the Lego City lineup and not the new modular. Special detail: The beautiful masonry at the front. Grand Emporium:The only modular which disapointed me at first site. My first thought was, "thats a fake... so not made by TLG". My reaction was possibly based on my total AWE by Sveltes Department store. But when I first got the Emporium I must say... it is really GRAND! Special detail: The art of smal multiple details times ten. Pet Shop: Havn't bought it yet, but hopefully will next week Town Hall: Really big and really promissing... even tough it should have been wider My personal favourit.... The Cafe Corner of course It brought me out of my "dark ages". Quote
The Blue Brick Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 My favorite is the Green Grocer, and then the Grand Emporium which comes in as my second. Quote
HighFlyer Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 (edited) Green Grocer is stunning. Edited January 27, 2012 by HighFlyer Quote
Brickmamba Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Wheres the poll, though I don't have it, the Green Grocer would have to be my favorite Quote
SwissBrick Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 (edited) Green Grocer, definitely!!! Then Café Corner, ahh the first one alwways has a special place (but not the first place though, Green Grocer improved all the small "defaults" like the lack of interior...) The Pet Shop (I didn't liked it much until I built it and I now believe it really suits the with CC & GG) Fire Brigade And finally Grand Emporium eventhough it still remains a fantastic set! But I think I mostly dislike the colors. Edited January 27, 2012 by SwissBrick Quote
JackJonespaw Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I like the Grand Emporium the best. Too bad there's no poll for this. Quote
fyrmedhatt Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 The Green Grocer is the perfect modular, it's simply an awesome design with both a great interior and exterior, and the sand green color makes it look realistic, yet distinct. It was also my first modular and my first non-Star Wars set after getting out of my dark ages. The one set that I I'm the most proud of is the Cafe Corner, it was truly awesome to see it take shape after spending several months getting it piece by piece off Bricklink. I never saw it coming when I built it, but it turned out to look great. Quote
Vindicare Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 (edited) 10184 isn't a Modular, replace 10218 with that. I'm going with 10182. Despite not having an interior, it was a great start to the theme. Edited January 28, 2012 by Legocrazy81 Quote
sonicstarlight Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 For me, the Green Grocer is the apex of the modular line. Since the GG, I think I have liked each new release slightly less than the one before - I do think the Town Hall looks better than the Pet Shop, though. Quote
Redhead1982 Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 My favourite is the Green Grocer, as it was my first and is special in every way - the great colour scheme, simply beautiful interiors, and the bay window architectural design. The Cafe Corner is very close as my second favourite, and for the rest it's hard to rate them. I'd say Market Street is definitely the least favourite (although still great), and then PS and GE and FB are somewhere in the middle. And lastly, the Town Hall I can't rate as I haven't built it (yet). Quote
LegoDad Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Just got done with GG, and I think I still like GE the best, for overall aethetic value. I do agree with others that GG's color scheme is great though. Still waiting to finish collecting parts for CC and then we'll see how that stacks up. Though, if it doesn't have a lot of interior design aspects, I'm not sure it will take the cake. I do really like the masonry work on the fire brigade, that was very cool to build. Quote
travisco_nabisco Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I only have the GG and GE. Of those two the GG is a order of magnitude better, don't ask me why, maybe it is because it was my first big set after the dark ages. I regret being a bit too late to pick up CC as that would probably be second for me. I am currently saving up to buy 2 or 3 more modulars, definitely Town Hall, and then I have to decide between the Fire Hall and Pet Shop. I am leaning towards the Pet Shop as I like the narrow building concept more and find the Fire Hall a bit odd with the inclusion of a vehicle. Quote
GRogall Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 (edited) There is a difference between the "Best" & "Favorite" Modular Building! 10182 Café Corner is my favorite Modular Building, but 10185 Green Grocer is IMO the best one... Then 10211 Grand Emporium, 10224 Town Hall, 10218 Pet Shop and last 10197 Fire Brigade. I still don't consider 10190 Market Street as part of the series! Edited February 1, 2012 by grogall Quote
Brickmamba Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Is there a reason why a proper poll hasn't been added to this thread yet, would be interesting to see the results Quote
fred67 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 My two cents is Green Grocer. The only one I don't have is Market Street, but that's before I knew modular would become a popular line - I bought GG because I actually thought it was a brilliant set, and have been collecting them since. GG, IMO, has a very classic look with an architectural style that reminds me more of some older classic buildings that I'm familiar with. Others might be bigger, have better interiors or two front faces (the corner buildings), but GG seems the most... realistic? I don't know. I just think it has the best "classic" look. Quote
wooootles Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Green Grocer is superior to all of the other modular buildings. I won't argue its subjective looks, which, while awesome, there's also Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium which have stunning architectural styles. I'll argue GG is technically the best, as it has arguably the most detailed rear (fire escape), so far the best price/piece ratio, and still the only modular building that has a fully tiled and decorated floor and interior on the first floor (only 1 of pet shop's buildings is fully tiled) Quote
woolie Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I am continuing to believe the GG never existed. The alternative is too horrible to contemplate. Quote
