technicfan Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I am not very knowledgeable about power functions but I have got the 8264 Hauler, and I was wondering if anyone on here had RC'd it so it could steer and turn with the power functions and controllers. I have seen Han 6x6 hauler but don't have most of the bits to make that. I have seen a few on youtube like this one: so was wondering if anyone had instructions to do this?. Quote
DLuders Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 NXTLiftBoy posted this of his motorized Lego Technic 8264 Hauler, with this description: "Instructions are available at this link: http://s186.photobucket.com/albums/x249/NXTLiftBoy/ArticulatedHauler/?albumview=slideshow .More info: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/90037 . This is a motorised and remote-controlled modification of LEGO set 8264, so NOT just the set from the shop! I added parts from the LEGO bulldozer set 8275, besides Power Functions lights, a switch, and a [Power Functions Extension] cord." The result is a Front-Wheel-Drive hauler. Quote
technicfan Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 Cool thanks, I will have to start soon. Because it steers with the wheels does anyone have any ideas on how to make the centre twist like the real ones and like hans 6x6 hauler still keeping the steering?. Quote
DLuders Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 @ technicfan: The motorized 8264 Hauler uses "skid steering", whereby each of the two Power Functions Medium motors operates a front wheel. By turning one wheel, the articulated body "bends". There's not a lot of room to add additional complexity in a model this small. Quote
efferman Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) There's not a lot of room to add additional complexity in a model this small. not much room is only a bigger challenge. i think fully RC with all wheel drive should be possible. Edited January 24, 2012 by efferman Quote
technicfan Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 I have converted my hauler into RC now using NXTLiftBoy's design following his photos and I am very happy with it. I didn't use the washers (because I didn't have any that small) but it runs fine without them. The only thing I noticed is that it doesn't move quite as fast as NXTLiftBoy's, could this be low batteries?, or another problem?. Quote
technicfan Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) This piece threw me aswell, I have never seen it before. Can anyone tell me what sets it has been in. It is the thin 6 hole liftarm with the pins in it. I only have 5 hole and 7 hole liftarms. Edited January 26, 2012 by technicfan Quote

technicfan Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=32063&in=S Cool thanks, thats probably why I coundn't find any because they are in all of my sets. I have found another problem that I don't know if NXTLiftBoy had which was the front axles eventually winding themselves out of the hole so they don't drive. Quote
technicfan Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) I thought I would put up some pictures of my 8264 Hauler. It has the RC function from NXTLiftBoy, aswell as a few little changes like the step, mirrors, exhaust, flashing light placement, aswell as the extension on the bin and solid rear axle. Please tell me what you think. Edited January 27, 2012 by technicfan Quote

timslegos Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Looks like the mod greatly enhances the play-ability of the Set. You definitely have to re-size the photos. tim Quote
technicfan Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 Is that better now. Yes it does make them more fun. Quote
technicfan Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 Now that brickshelf is working I thought I would put up some pics of the new bonnet I made for it. Next job is a centre twist using the new mini turntable. Please tell me what you think. Quote
Technic Gearhead Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 That looks good. It's a shame there isn't room under there for a working V6. I just got this set today so I'm looking forward to building it soon. It's a good looking set even though it is pretty simplified. I want to up size it a bit and stuff some gears and extra functions into it. Quote
