MadManMingo Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I love my Cafe Corner! But with the size of recent modular buildings, it's starting to look a bit small. And I personally think, that the tower of this building which startet the modular-age, should look as grand as possible But i'm not much of a colour specialist, so I could really need som help here. After the much anticipated update of LDD, I startet to build another 1. floor of CC to get a partial inventory-list of this floor alone. But I'm not quiet sure about the brownish colours. At first I thought that CC was made of the brown colour in the middle of the tree 1x2 in the front. But then I found the dark brown to the left and I came in doubt. Can you guys help me? The light brown to the right is just to show the colour range of the brownish colours. Quote
Lorentzen Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 of topic: "Welcome back colour" - Tina Dickow? (Awesome artist) To answer your question: I think that the darkest brown colour in LDD is the dark brown that we also know from actual sets, and that's not the one used on the cafe corner. The middle brown is the one I think is used in the set: "Reddish Brown" I think... Quote
Aanchir Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 (edited) I love my Cafe Corner! But with the size of recent modular buildings, it's starting to look a bit small. The light brown to the right is just to show the colour range of the brownish colours. The middle brown is Reddish Brown, which is indeed the color used in the Cafe Corner. The one on the left is Dark Brown, which was introduced in LEGO's Indiana Jones theme, while the one on the right is Dark Orange, which is used extensively in the upcoming Town Hall set in the modular series. A good way to check what color parts should be on LDD is to use the LEGO Customer Service site's replacement parts server, located here. Just enter your age and select an option for why you need a replacement (unless you actually plan on ordering replacements it doesn't matter what you select). Then enter the set number for the set you want to check on a color from, and click on a part from the set in that color. A pop-up window will come up with details like the Design ID, element ID, and color name. The replacement parts server does have a flaw, which is that it doesn't have pictures for every part, and that it doesn't show parts other than those it has pictures for when you enter a set number. But there's another way to view part information from TLG's database through this server. Just go to the URL of one of those pop-up windows (they make it difficult to copy and paste, so here's a link for you to use) and replace the seven-digit number in the URL with the six- or seven-digit Element ID of any part you want to look up. In all sets from 2006 or later, the Element IDs for all parts included can be found in the back of the sets' instruction booklets. Hope this helps. Edited January 21, 2012 by Aanchir Quote
MadManMingo Posted January 21, 2012 Author Posted January 21, 2012 Thanks for the great help Lorentzen and Aanchir Now I can finish my little dejavu with CC and be confident that, it's the right colour, when I order my 1. floor inventory. That was my trouble to start with. I didn't want to spend quiet some time in LDD, if I had the colour wrong Also a very helpfull tip about TLG's database. I will be surfing that, next time I have to find a special part. Normally I have been using Peeron. But it's always nice with alternatives Quote

I didn't want to spend quiet some time in LDD, if I had the colour wrong As a final hint, LDD does have a "Select all pieces in the same colour" tool, which when combined with the paint tool in Extended Mode is a godsend if you do a lot of building and then realise you had the wrong shade (or you just decide to try out a different colour). It's a little quirky to use since the last interface update but basically the steps are: 1) Choose the colour you want to change to in the painting tool 2) Select the paint tool [this is the key step, it won't work if the decoration or colour picker tool is selected] 3) Switch to the selection tool and select the colour select tool 4) Click one of the bricks in the colour you want to replace 5) Click the paint tool button in the toolbar, this will repaint all the selected bricks Quote
MadManMingo Posted January 21, 2012 Author Posted January 21, 2012 (edited) "Select all pieces in the same colour" tool Thanks AndyC! Hmmmm.... funny little detail I dont dare to say, that Jamie made a no-no in the corner section of the CC 1. floor. I know it IS possible, cause i'm sitting with the original right beside me on the desk. But i can't make LDD do the same trick, and make the curvy 1x2 intersect with the 1x6 plate in the 45 dgr. angle. It should be alligned with the edge of the wall. but it cant.... I've been trying now for half an hour But I'll just settle with putting them inside on the floor. Luckiely we know it's possible in real life Edited January 21, 2012 by MadManMingo Quote

Luckiely we know it's possible in real life I've encountered this problem before when I attempted to build the Cafe Corner. It looks like it's just an issue of the part boundaries being programmed incorrectly on LDD. I encourage you to report this in the LDD 4.2.5 bugs topic. Superkalle forwards all bug reports to the LDD team for them to fix in a future update. Edited January 22, 2012 by Ricecracker Removed quoted image. Quote

MadManMingo Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 Yeaahhh... I've finished the first floor of Cafe Corner in LDD, so I could have an inventory-list to order another floor on my own CC. It really is my favourite modular Actually I think I will use this oportunity to add som seperating walls, and some interior before I order. But if anyone else would want the inventory for this floor alone, just pop me a message, and I'll send you a pdf Quote
Creator Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 But if anyone else would want the inventory for this floor alone, just pop me a message, and I'll send you a pdf PM sent. Would love to add another floor to my CC as well. Does anyone know whether all bricks for this particular floor are available through pick-a-brick online? I know that the roof pieces for example are not. Thanks. Quote
Lorentzen Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Sweet - If I ever get my hands on a CC I will definitely order bricks to make an extra floor Quote
