FBTBTim Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Has anyone done this? I have the thought of straightening Wonder Woman's lasso rather than making her look like an Amazonian cowboy. Could I dip the joint in boiling water for a bit to straighten it? Quote
TLOR FETT Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Has anyone done this? I have the thought of straightening Wonder Woman's lasso rather than making her look like an Amazonian cowboy. Could I dip the joint in boiling water for a bit to straighten it? Seems like a sound idea. I actually plan on trying this with elongated LEGO Lightsabers in attempts to make a whip. The plastic the Lasso is made out of is deff softer than the saber so it should work fairly well in the warm/boiled water. I would try to make sure you dont press the Lasso to hard with a tool or make too sudden of a bend or you will cause stress marks in the plastic. Quote
morganm Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 You shouldn't even need to bring the water to a boil. Lots of people have used hot water to fix bent plastic miniatures for various games. Most do not suggest boiling the water. I'm sure you've seen the article online of the guy who explains how to detach Lego minifigs from their magnetic bases using hot water. He recommends 160 degrees which is well below boiling point. Here's a couple of references http://thebrickblogger.com/2011/01/lego-glued-magnet-removal/ http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/562761/how-to-fix-miniatures-that-are-bent Please respond with your results! This could be some good info for moding other parts such as the Indiana Jones whip, traditional Lego whips, or other somewhat bendy parts. Quote
B-Lister Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Why can't they do boxed minifigure sets like they did back in the 80s? Quote
TLOR FETT Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Thanks for those links, they will be helpful even if not for this (I am gonna pull apart some Magnets) I still need to order my parts to try this, having to put a lot on the back burner due to tight funds. Why can't they do boxed minifigure sets like they did back in the 80s? Care to elaborate some of us are not old enough to remember anything from then, They do have the City Minifigure Set for $49.99 with 22 Figs their is also a Medeival/Fantasy Minifigure set as well Quote

LEGOman273 Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Why can't they do boxed minifigure sets like they did back in the 80s? Because people were opening the boxes and stealing the 'figs. At least that is what I have heard. Quote

TLOR FETT Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Can you please explain the relevance to this topic? I understand that you are stepping in for Moderation but when LuxorV already threw in on that part of the discussion that pretty much gave the green light to continue. Quote

Please do not start mini-modding now. I gave a rapid answer in hope the derailment would stop there, not to start a whole new conversation on a topic almost completely different from opening post. So, please, let's get back on track. Quote
