Saberwing40k Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 i'm wondering why the lego train speed regulator is rated for both nine and twelve volts, and comes with a 12 volt dc transformer. is it safe to use 12 volts with lego motors, and what voltage are they actually rated for? Quote

I regularly use both the train regulator and the Control Center on 12V DC and have used them to run old 9V motors and PF, and have never had problems. Quote
Tobbe Arnesson Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 12V on the motors is generally safe, as long as you keep the heat down (I've used 18V on the 71427c01 Electric, Motor 9V Mini-Motor with out destroying anything - and a pure LEGO solution too). 12V on the IR-receiver works but is bad for the circuits, they might fry or get a considerably shorter life span. Burf2000 Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I never knew they could run 12v, thanks for that! Quote
