A long time ago , I watched the anime Macross Frontier, and set out to build a replica of the main Variable Fighter from the series, the VF-25. it did not look that good, but it transformed, and taught me a lot about making transforming Lego stuff. i actually got to apply those lessons later, when i replicated an SV-51

here it is, in fighter mode. this is by far the best mode, in my opinion.

Gerwalk mode is not bad, considering my limited supply of parts at the time.

Oh yuck! without a doubt, battaroid mode is the worst of the bunch.

funnily enough, the person who designed the VF-25 (sadly i don't remember his name.) designed it in lego!

sometime later, i saw the toy of Shockwave, from Transformers: Dark of The Moon, and wanted to replicate it in Lego.

at first, i designed it in Lego Digital Designer, which turned out to be a mistake, as the actual model did not exactly work as intended.

for instance, the shoulders would not stay in position, and the chest plate kept popping off. :shrug_oh_well:

here it is, in vehicle mode. it was supposed to be a tank.

not too good, so let's try the robot mode.

....

well, i successfully replicated the transformation, just not the overall Bayformer aesthetic. :shrug_oh_well:

Very cool SV-51. I'm not familiar with the source material. I've always been pretty impressed when people make LEGO that can transform. You've made 3 modes! That's crazy, while you're not overly happy with how the third mode turned out, I think you did a great job!
