Honest question : With all that building experience and your own job (you're an airplane tech, no? You may lie and say you do UFOs and spacebases, I wont tell) why don't you MOC yourself? You must have the chops by now ..

Sorry, if I offended you :/ :sceptic:

I use drugopedia ALL the time, it has influenced my purchased greatly. I've bought a load of Universel sets just for my son and he has enjoyed - and learned - a lot. Thanks

I also bought all the Arctic sets

That is unbelievable....

One question, what car is the white one, third down, first row.

When you tell me I'll kick myself for not recognizing it. :sceptic:

I really want you to start kicking your self so, I am guessing something by crowkillers?

I wish I could. You are correct that I am an Aerospace Engineer and certainly have the technical ability. I am simply not gifted with much in the way of creative talent.

That's Crowkillers' Gallardo converted from red to white. Some of them are actually difficult to identify from only a front view. Here is a list of all the cars, from left to right:

Now I just have to find something for that empty spot!

Thank you for the answer. But due to your very interesting job you must see a lot of real world technical/mechanical solutions that could be done with Technic LEGO, no?

Have you ever modded a set/MOC for better technical performance (not looks)?

I had Erik's Pagani Zonea built at one point. I really like that car. It's going on my "to build" list. I've built all of those except the Silver Spartscar, and the Vector W8. I only have about 1/3 of them still on display.

Yes, there are a lot of things I think it would be interesting to build. A flap system would be really cool, but the missing component is a planetary (epicyclic) gear set. Linear gear systems have been done extensively in LEGO, but I think mechanisms and linkages could be much further explored. For example, the Fowler motion of a trailing edge flap would be fun to replicate. I've also considered doing a working replica of a landing gear actuation system complete with mechanical sequencing. It would not look that interesting, but mechanically it would be awesome.

The "dihedral synchro helix" doors on the CCX which are replicated on Nathanael Kuipers' silver supercar are one of my favorite mechanisms.

Yes. For example I was the first one to flip one of the drive gears on 8043 to synchronize the linear actuators during their stroke. For the most part official sets are very well optimized though.
