1974 Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Honest question : With all that building experience and your own job (you're an airplane tech, no? You may lie and say you do UFOs and spacebases, I wont tell) why don't you MOC yourself? You must have the chops by now .. Sorry, if I offended you :/ I use drugopedia ALL the time, it has influenced my purchased greatly. I've bought a load of Universel sets just for my son and he has enjoyed - and learned - a lot. Thanks I also bought all the Arctic sets Quote
Kronos Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 That is unbelievable.... One question, what car is the white one, third down, first row. When you tell me I'll kick myself for not recognizing it. Quote

Kronos Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 (edited) I really want you to start kicking your self so, I am guessing something by crowkillers? I thought so, but I've built the Vampire, Porche, Supercar Deluxe II......oh hell..... I just looked at the pic again. This is gonna hurt me more than you.........You're right..... It's one of the Lambo's in white. Damn. Edited September 11, 2013 by Kronos Quote

You may lie and say you do UFOs and spacebases, I wont tell) why don't you MOC yourself? You must have the chops by now . I wish I could. You are correct that I am an Aerospace Engineer and certainly have the technical ability. I am simply not gifted with much in the way of creative talent. One question, what car is the white one, third down, first row. That's Crowkillers' Gallardo converted from red to white. Some of them are actually difficult to identify from only a front view. Here is a list of all the cars, from left to right: 1st Row: 8145 Ferrari 599, Lamborghini Murcielago by Crowkillers, Pagani Zonda by Erik Leppen, Lamborghini Countach by Skyliner 2nd Row: 8653 Ferrari Enzo, 8448 Super Street Sensation, 8880 Supercar, 8865 Test Car 3rd Row: Lamborghini Gallardo by Crowkillers, Little Devil by Jurgen Krooshoop, Sunbeam by Jurgen Krooshoop, Black Dragon by Jovel 4th Row: Concept Car by Nathanael Kuipers, Vampire GT by Crowkillers, Roadster by Nico71, 8860 Auto Chassis 5th Row: Vector W8 by Skyliner, Pony Car by Nathanael Kuipers, 8649 Nitro Menace, 8041 B-model, Supercar Deluxe by Crowkillers 6th Row: V12 Coupe by Lipko, Porsche 997 GT3 by Crowkillers, 8146 Nitro Muscle, 8070 Supercar 7th Row: Supercar by Madoca 8th Row: Koenigsegg CCX by Jurgen Krooshoop, Silver Supercar by Nathanael Kuipers, Bughatti EB110 by Erik Leppen Now I just have to find something for that empty spot! But due to your very interesting job you must see a lot of real world technical/mechanical solutions that could be done with Technic LEGO, no? Have you ever modded a set/MOC for better technical performance (not looks)? Quote
Kronos Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 I had Erik's Pagani Zonea built at one point. I really like that car. It's going on my "to build" list. I've built all of those except the Silver Spartscar, and the Vector W8. I only have about 1/3 of them still on display. Quote
Blakbird Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Thank you for the answer. But due to your very interesting job you must see a lot of real world technical/mechanical solutions that could be done with Technic LEGO, no? Yes, there are a lot of things I think it would be interesting to build. A flap system would be really cool, but the missing component is a planetary (epicyclic) gear set. Linear gear systems have been done extensively in LEGO, but I think mechanisms and linkages could be much further explored. For example, the Fowler motion of a trailing edge flap would be fun to replicate. I've also considered doing a working replica of a landing gear actuation system complete with mechanical sequencing. It would not look that interesting, but mechanically it would be awesome. The "dihedral synchro helix" doors on the CCX which are replicated on Nathanael Kuipers' silver supercar are one of my favorite mechanisms. Have you ever modded a set/MOC for better technical performance (not looks)? Yes. For example I was the first one to flip one of the drive gears on 8043 to synchronize the linear actuators during their stroke. For the most part official sets are very well optimized though. Quote
