Zane Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I saw discussion brewing in the Friendcode Thread, so I thought I might as well start a topic.... It looks to be getting Pokemon onto the must-play scene again. R/S kind of bored me...anyways, I have some questions: 1) Does anyone have a list of the Pokemon exclusive to each game? 2) Does it include R/B, G/S and R/S Pokemon? Thanks much. Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Well, this is what I figured out so far: For exclusives, go here. And yes, there are 1st-3rd gen Pokemon alright. Zubats still haunt every cave you get to. However, there are more new Pokemon then old ones. At least that's the feeling I got. After beating the Elite 4 you get the National Dex, and you can link to the GBA games to get a complete dex. Apparently getting the National Dex also unlocks more wild 1st-3rd gen Pokemon. I'd be glad to answer any other questions ;-) Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I've got a funny story about Pokemon games. When I was very young, I was addicted to the game on my old Gameboy Colour. I used to be able to do everything. I had the skills, apparently. Flash forward to this summer, when I slotted the game (gold version) into my Gameboy colour again for a quick play. I was bamboozeld. Confuddled. I didn't know where to begin. I'm getting too old for these kinds of games. ;-) Quote
Zane Posted October 10, 2006 Author Posted October 10, 2006 Ah good, Diamond has the best Pokemon. I always have to choose like this.... I used to play Silver for hours every day. But now I'm accustomed to my DS, and can't see the screen well on my GBA anymore. I really want a G/S remake for GBA...so it works on my DS. When you use R/S, do you only unlock the Pokemon you've caught on R/S? Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I'll be getting a European Diamond as well. That will be my main game (like Ruby is my main 3rd gen game) and my Pearl will just be there for trading and stuff. And yes, I demand a G/S/C remake. Still the best Pokemon games to date, the first game I really played and the game that got me hooked on gaming. Now that we have a R/B/Y remake, I want a G/S/C remake too. As far as I know using Ruby won't unlock those Pokemon in the wild, but you can trade 6 pokemon from each GBA game to the DS games daily. You could of course mess with the DS' clock to do multiple trades daily. Some other neat things I ran into while playing (have all 8 badges now, heading for Victory Road): Day/Night system is back! My favorite feature from G/S/C makes a return (I really, really don't know why it wasn't in R/S/E) In some parts of the game you team up with another trainer and have 2-on-2 battles using one of your Pokemon and one of his. Done in Emerald, yes, but this time around, you can also battle wild Pokemon 2-on-2! Gyms are tougher then before. You'll run into Gym Trainers and Leaders using other types of Pokemon then then they should. For instance, the 8th gym Leader (Electric) has a Octillery and an Aipom evo. Quite a lot of old Pokemon got evolutions (Duclops, Rhydon, Sneasel, Piloswine, Magmar etc.) There are also 2 new Eevee evolutions: grass and ice There is a new weather effect called fog. I think this lowers accuracy. You need a HM to clear it. Quote
Lost Viking Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Hmmm... sounds good! How does the multiplayer work? Quote
Andrex Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Multiplayer is wireless or Wi-Fi, so you can trade or battle online. There are also base CTFs for DS to DS, and other new features. Things like that ^^. Quote
Zane Posted October 15, 2006 Author Posted October 15, 2006 CTFs? I think it would have been better if they had it so you could walk around together and stuff.... Quote
Lost Viking Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Yea, like a co-op mode. That would have been fun. Quote
Darth Doggfather Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 So are these like, the 20th Pokemon games? They have milked this franchise WAAAAY too much. I played Yellow when it came out, but they introduce 20 new pokemon and 2 new games every year. The Pokemon franchise is unpopular now because it has been milked so much. Quote
Zane Posted October 15, 2006 Author Posted October 15, 2006 Know your subject before you criticize it. There have been 3 generations (4 if you include D/P) of games and Pokemon, with spin-off games, too. And I don't think having so many series of cartoons, an expanding TCG, a huge fanbase and tours is what you'd call unpopular. Quote
Starwars4J Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 This will be fantastic, it'll be great to have a nice community here to battle and trade with :-D The EV spreads will be interesting with this new system of physical vs. special in place. Quote

You do realize that Diamond and Pearl are the fastes selling Pokemon games so far, right? They sold 2 million copies in the first week. Know your facts! I do agree however, that all the spin-off games are crap. Quote

Commander Wolf Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 You do realize that Diamond and Pearl are the fastes selling Pokemon games so far, right? They sold 2 million copies in the first week. Know your facts! Wow. Where'd you get that figure? I was always on the "Pokemon has been dead foy many many years" bandwagon, so I'd be reasonably surprised if the figure was true. Also, if Diamond and Pearl sold 2 million copies in the first weej, how many copies did like Red and Blue sell in the first week? Quote
Zane Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 Anybody have a list of all the Pokemon in each game? The 1st/2nd/3rd generations I mean? Quote
Lost Viking Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Anybody have a list of all the Pokemon in each game? The 1st/2nd/3rd generations I mean? I've got the strategy guide for Mystery Dungeon, at the back it has a list of all the Pokemon, but before I scan it in could you look on the web for a list? Quote
Starwars4J Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Anybody have a list of all the Pokemon in each game? The 1st/2nd/3rd generations I mean? here X-D Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I got those figures here. It's a dutch site though. I don't know how much copies Red and Green (Japan got Green) sold though. Zane, check the link to Serebii again. It's now updated for all Pokemon. If not, just look at the main site for a link, because it has all exclusives up now. Quote
Zane Posted October 18, 2006 Author Posted October 18, 2006 Awesome. With Pal Park, are you sending across your FR/LG/R/S Pokemon to be able to catch in the park? And how do you get Cyndaquil and co. without being able to use G/S? Is it in Emerald? So to confirm, each version has every Pokemon apart from these and these, right? And also, can you still only walk in 4 directions? Quote
Starwars4J Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 From what I understand, you slip a third gen cart in the GBA slot, then you can "catch" the pokemon on that team in the pal park with masterball-ish park balls. They are exact copies of the ones in your GBA carts. This bypasses the problem of not being able to trade over pokemon that either didn't exist in third gen, or have new items attacked, or have different moves, or have a new ability Quote
Cutty Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Awesome. With Pal Park, are you sending across your FR/LG/R/S Pokemon to be able to catch in the park? And how do you get Cyndaquil and co. without being able to use G/S? Is it in Emerald? Yep, the 2nd gen starters are obtainable in Emerald, yet only one per game. Prof. Birch awards you with one of the three (your choice) once you complete the Hoenn dex (sans Jirachi and Deoxys). That's 200 monsters including all the event legendaries from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. Additionally the 2nd gen starters can be bred from their evolved forms you snag in Colosseum, and if I am not mistaken you get a random starter with their corresponding "elemental hyper beam" when you beat Battle Mountain in XD:Gale of Darkness. From what I understand, you slip a third gen cart in the GBA slot, then you can "catch" the pokemon on that team in the pal park with masterball-ish park balls. They are exact copies of the ones in your GBA carts. This bypasses the problem of not being able to trade over pokemon that either didn't exist in third gen, or have new items attacked, or have different moves, or have a new ability When you have a 3rd gen game in the gba cartridge-slot you also unlock wild monsters (usually ones that are originally exclusive to that cartridge) in certain areas. This is essential if you want to evolve Electabuzz and Magmar since their baby-forms, which are unlocked that way, carry the item you need to evolve them. I think that's a cool means of making trading much more necessary along with having wi-fi trading as a much more viable way to trade anyway. Quote
SuvieD Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Does anyone know when these games will come out in English? I want to get the Pearl version for it's superior pokemon and the water dragon legendary. Trading wifi will be awesome. If anyone has a leaf green version make sure you breed a few of the exclusive pokemon in it to trade to me later on. I will be sure to do the same. "I wanna be the very best, like no one ever . . ." Kikuichimonji Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 There is no US release date yet. SuvieD, I happen to have a Leafgreen , so I could breed you some exclusives ;-) Quote
