Tancred_de_Beauville Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Great review, super sense of humour :) . Camper looks really nice, still with those place for sleep maybe should be two level to cover place for both miniatures. Great that such place exists at all (in camper from 6388 there wasn't any space to sleep). Car is also nice, especially as two miniatures can sit in it (I remember all old models, where in almost all cars only one figure can sit). Quote
Rufus Posted January 21, 2012 Author Posted January 21, 2012 Thanks everyone for the replies! Sorry I can't reply individually to everyone. Now for some camping areas and forest scene accompany sets (with deer). I suspect this set was launched to coincide with all the Forest Police sets, to give them something to protect from all those criminals The car is average and is giving me flashbacks to the 2010 Train Station Taxi, oh and the 2007 Service Station set car. Yes, it did remind me of those. The parts selection is nice I like the black light saber hilt which previously only appeared in an Indiana Jones set I recall. And last year's Prisoner Transport (oh one thing the link for my review links to a picture and not my review ) Fixed My caravan closes snug...maybe some piece(s) aren't sitting quite right? IDK... Possibly, though I built it carefully The Waltons are pretty nice minifigs too. I hadn't intended them to be the Waltons; the names just kinda sprang to mind Not all that strange, Two are the same and the third has different letters on it. (PN for the car, JM for the caravan.) Here in the Netherlands Caravans and Trailers (Weighing more then 750 Kilo) are required to have there own registration plate. (Same color as car registration plates.) Germany has the same rules as the Netherlands, Belgium too but from 500 kilo's and up. Don't know about Denmark, Couldn't find anything about it with Google.) Could be a European thing but I don't think it's a European law, It does explain the sticker sheet and thus Lego's choice. Teach me not to do my research In the UK, the caravan would have the same plate as the rear of the car. But it's hardly important, I just mentioned it because I had figured the real reason was: That, Or the Car and Caravan where designed by two different designers? Therefore they have different plates. (It really could be that simple.) Thanks for the review! I agree that this set is not as appealing as the Camper was. In fact, I'm only interested in the female fig with her new torso and what I believe a new faceprint as well (or at least new to this year, if not unique). I guess I'll just order her separately from Bricklink, since I don't need the other parts, really... According to Bricklink, the faceprint has been around since 2009 Considering how incredibly cheap the sticker sheets are it is disappointing that the number plates don’t fit with UK usage... but then am I alone in my disappointment that the instruction sheets always show the driver on the left – couldn’t a side panel show the right-hand-drive build variant? In this set, the driver sits in the centre But I guess most countries have left hand drive, so we shouldn't feel too hard done by. When there's a choice, I usually build vehicles with RHD. I am a sucker for civilian vehicles which can be used to populate the city. I am very pleased to see this version! It is like seeing Classic Town vehicles breaking through into modern city standards. Don't you find this built very familiar? http://www.1000steine.com/brickset/images/6590-1.jpg Bah, completely missed that one Thanks, Fangy! Quote
The Player Nº1 Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I want so bad this set. I have the 7639 Camper and I love it! Quote
WideWiiLover Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Another Great Review, Rufus....I always look forward to your reviews. I think you could easily adapt this to have more features, i.e. add a fold out table for outside the caravan etc.... I just wish they would extend the civilian sets....it would give us MOC'ers more ideas...i miss the civilian parts of City/Town Can't wait for next Review Quote
Ash Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Great review. I got the campervan at Christmas and think I prefer it and will probably pass on this one. Although whenver I see the male figures torso all I can think of is Ned Flanders. Quote
