Sariel Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) Just a vignette. The context should be familiar for most of you, I hope. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Sariel/JustAFleshWound/1.jpg My goal was to make this scene instantly recognizable while using minimum customization. So eventually I ended up painting Black Knight's helmet matte black (it's the only LEGO helmet I consider fitting and it does not come in black) and using two small bits of black plasticine to secure the spurting "blood". I was also trying to pose the combatants so as to suggest a natural body movement, hard as it is with the limited amount of limbs available. The rest of the photos: And the original scene: I'm basically a Technic builder, so please be gentle with me :) Edited May 9, 2012 by CorneliusMurdock Changed over-sized pic to url. Quote
Tazmaniac Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Great shot! Love that scene, though I'm not sure about the coloured in helmet. Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Best. Vignette. Ever. King Arthur looks spot on and I never would have thought of using the red "blood" like that. Though maybe consider adding a bridge or some trees. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Very clever design. I have only seen that part of that film, so I only barely understand the context. I thought the new Black Falcon helm was black? Keep up the good work. Quote
Dwellington Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Aw, yeah! I think it could use a couple red tiles or plates on the ground, to simulate puddled blood. Just a touch at the Black Kight's feet and where his arms landed. Nicely done. Quote
brickie Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 "Just a flesh wound" Brilliant scene; great use of the 'blood' pieces. Thanks for the video; it was great to see Monty again. Well done. Quote
Captain Blackbeard Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Ahh, that was a hilarious video. Great MOC! Quote
Tomcat RIO Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 haahaha great vignette. Loved that scene, and the Ni! Ni! Thumbs up! Quote
CptMugwash Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 This made me smile. The plume piece as blood is good "Come back I'll bite ya legs off!" Quote
brickie Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Sariel, Your vignette is one of those things that stick in your mind. Whilst preparing a medieval display for a model train show last weekend, I built a bridge across the river for the 3 Billy Goats Gruff. When I finished it, you vignette jumped out at me; "None shall pass!" Thus I shamelessly copied your idea. Both sides of the bridge provided interest; the billy goats for the kids and the Black Knight for the adults. There were a lot of grown ups walking around reciting the script from that scene; "It's only a scratch", "I've had worse" and " Come back and I'll bite your legs off. OK, let's call it a draw. Quote
purpleparadox Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Reading the title, I couldn't decide if this topic would be a battle between flesh and yellow minifigs, or a recreation of this scene. The vig made me smile, and it's a creative use of that red plume piece. Good job. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Sariel, your first pic was way to large so I changed it to a link. If you could please make a version that is 800x600 pixels or smaller, you can share that one here instead. It is a really good vignett. I hope you can resize so people don't have to go off site to see it. Thank you. Quote
Legonardo Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Brilliant, absolutely brilliant, a very good luagh. =Legonardo= Quote
