Hello everyone! I need your help people.

I need a lot of 3711 chain links for my next project and I have some questions about buying them.

First of all I found some good lots on bricklink but I was confused because some of them are stated as "new"

Are sellers getting them directly from TLG?

If so, can I order this part directly too?

Can anyone help me with price comparison? (I mean that cheapest item I've found was 0.18$ per one 3711, are direct LEGO prices lower?)

Please help

'New' on bricklink means that they haven't been used. What that often means is that the seller has bought sets that they come in and has parted them out. I'm not aware of LEGO selling them to people directly, but they may. There was a thread about buying directly from LEGO through a service called LEGO Direct.

I'm not sure whether that info is still current, though, and whether it is cheaper. At least the part is still in production!

Cheers,

Yes, Ralph_S is correct -- you could telephone Lego Customer Service ("Lego Direct") by clicking on the "Contact Us" hyperlink on the bottom of the Shop.Lego.com webpage. You will need the Lego Element ID (not the Bricklink Part Number) for your inquiry -- it is 371126. The part appeared in the 2010 Lego Technic 8051 Motorbike set. Please report back here on what price "Lego Direct" tells you. :classic:

The criteria for ordering parts from "Lego Direct":

a) The parts must be from Lego sets sold within the past five years.

b) One must know the Lego Element ID (not the Bricklink part number) for the part(s) you want. Use Bricklink to find out what set(s) the part(s) appeared in, then use the Lego Customer Service Building Instructions website to download the PDF file. The visual Parts List is usually on the last few pages of the instruction booklets. The Lego Element ID is that strange code number beneath each part.

c) One can order up to 15 different line items (not just 15 individual pieces) at a time. If you want more line items, call back the next day with a separate order.

d) Until an item is sold out, there is no limit on the number of pieces ordered on each line item. You need to know the desired color of the parts you want; they may not have all colors available.

e) One must use a Credit Card.

Thanks for the answer.

The Lego education only available in UK and US. You cannot order from any other country.

The ebay seller is currently away and his store is empty =(

Thanks for the help, I think bricklink is the optimal way right now :hmpf:

I'll try LEGO direct though

i have sdeveral unopened bags of chain link, which i purchased years ago from pitsco-lego dacta (now defunct). your sellers may have made similar purchases in the past, or they've purchased discounted sets in bulk, which they part out for sale.

try contacting your sellers to discuss a discount price for a large purchase. doesn't hurt to try.
