Smrgol Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I just received the Pneumatic set 8854, and the model looks great, but it is seriously lacking in strength for the lift arm turntable, it becomes loose as soon as you raise and extend the arm, let alone adding any weight to crane :-( I still like it though, I and gonna see if there is anything I can do to help that problem. I am over the moon with the ebay seller though as there were 12 shock absorbers as well as an assortment of extra cogs, studded bricks, studless 1x7 bent lift arms :-) I have already removed 2 of the 3 universal joints in place of normal connecting collars so I can use them elsewhere haha Quote
CP5670 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 It seems okay for me. Make sure you have tightened the nuts on the screw axle (although not too much or it won't turn smoothly). It can't take a lot of weight since there is no counterweight, but works fine with light or no loads, even when extended. Quote
Smrgol Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 I've had a look at the model again and realised one of the weak spots was my own fault, I forgot to push two rods in which help to hold the turntable section in. And for my own peace I have also added 2 1x8 strips to the front and back of the turn tables base to give it a little extra strength and I think its worked: The thing hanging from the front is the MOC (well technical exercise) I am working on and is completely clear of the floor - around 1-2mm - and has been hanging there for around 5mins now. I dont dare extend the boom on the truck, but I'm happy with its strength as that model I'm building is getting pretty heavy lol Quote
