Lamanda2 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Hello all, I listed a custom of mine on eBay last night, it's Goku from Dragonball Z. (Any fans here?) Link to auction. The hair piece was sculpted by me and will probably be the last one I will sculpt. (Though I may plan on casting mine..) Comments on the fig are welcome. :-) ~Amanda
MattZitron Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Saw this on Brickshelf, and though its not how I do my Minifigs; I was very impressed! Well done!
Starwars4J Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 I saw this on MCN :-P I love how it evolved, and you captured the spirit of Goku perfectly (much better face decal ;-) ) The only one I'm actually interested in is the Super Saiya-jin hair piece :-P When you get around to that I'd be glad to bid. And if I were you, I'd definitely cast a mold for that beautiful hair piece before you ship it off
Lamanda2 Posted October 6, 2006 Author Posted October 6, 2006 Matt- Thank you, it is always nice to hear positive comments, really makes the work all worth it. Starwars- Ah yes, it really did evolve greatly. Of coarse, I could never have the heart to sell my very first one, I made this guy just for the selling. I figured it would be a nice thing to sell, seeing as I have not listed anything in a while and because I was running out of money for my Lego hobby needs. X-D I still need myself more practice at resin casting before I can cast some of my great anime hair styles.. but the whole thing just doesn't seem to 'click' yet. :-/ -I printed out some referance pictures of some differant super sayain hair types and will give the sculpting of the super sayain one and perhaps even three (Gotta love a challenge!) hair style soon. My latest WIP started today was a hairpiece for Android 16 that I will soon post at MCN. (It isn't the best looking right now, but hey, it's a WIP.) ~Amanda
Starwars4J Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Well whenever you cast the SS hair, you'll have to let me know so I don't miss out on a chance to buy it ;-) I'm actually thinking about getting into sculpy soon, though I'm sure it'll be a long road before I'm even half-decent. I'm interested in how you'll get Android 16 to look bigger and bulkier than his android "brothers" :-P If you ever decide to sell another Goku make a quick, cheap little Brick-built Nimbus to boost the sales up significantly ;-)
Lamanda2 Posted October 6, 2006 Author Posted October 6, 2006 Of coarse I'll let you know if I get it casted. I have been working on a website lately, it's a bit of an on and off project, but when it is finished I shall have I place to sell my custom cast pieces individually. (But the finished site is a long ways away. Like casting, HTML confuses me ;-) ) I have an idea in mind that should give him enough bulk, but you will just have to wait and see. :-P I considered doing the Nimbus, but couldn't think how to make it- But I am sure it would increase the sales quite well. X-D ~Amanda
EXO-CHAMP Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Now that's the kind of hair Exo-Force should have. Looks awesome.
Lost Viking Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Now that's the kind of hair Exo-Force should have.Looks awesome. Yea, that is awesome, great job Lamanda. It is extremely accurate! I agree with Exo, that hair would have been perfect.
Lamanda2 Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 Yes, I bet that would make good Exo-Force hair. I do not own any of it myself, but I believe it is rubbery like those mutant dinos, right? ..Those things are too wierd for me. :-/ Hey, if I ever get some casted and set up a shop or site, you guys could always get one for your Exo-Force figs. I could cast it in any color. X-D ~Amanda
JINZONINGEN73 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Woah, this is pretty quality stuff. I imagine you could sell just the headpiece and neccesary stickers, if you got a good casting process down. I've seen custom Gokus before, but not ever as well done.
Lamanda2 Posted October 12, 2006 Author Posted October 12, 2006 Well, it's over now, and boy did he ever sell! 8-
Starwars4J Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Congrats on the sale. I didn't win, but I'll take any spare pieces you have lying around X-D Seriously though, quality work. For most people I'd call it a rip-off, but with the work you put into that I'd say whoever won it got more than their money's worth. Just open up a shop already! *sing* :-P Oh, and keep trying to get Peter to join, he'll cave in eventually ;-)
SuvieD Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 It is a fleshy. :-X Take the thing out and burn it! *sing* It looks really good but LEGO just is LEGO in flesh. Not for me anyway. You didn't happen to have a piccolo custom do you?
Lamanda2 Posted October 13, 2006 Author Posted October 13, 2006 It is a fleshy. :-X Take the thing out and burn it! *sing* It looks really good but LEGO just is LEGO in flesh. Not for me anyway. You didn't happen to have a piccolo custom do you? I know, but since I am going to be doing the SS version I didn't want the yellow on yellow.. Piccolo? Nope- you'll have to ask Nick(Great) about that. :-P ~Amanda
