Perry the Platypus Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 (edited) Recently, there has been some obvious controversy about the new Minidoll included in every set in the Friends line. They are about three plates taller than the standard minifigure. Nothing is compatible with a normal minifigure except for accessories and the rubbery hairpiece. So, what do you like or dislike about the Minidoll? Here is the chance to share your opinion. In my humble opinion, they look nice (kind of cute... ), but they just aren't very appealing. I gave mine to my daughter. Edited January 6, 2012 by Perry the Platypus

I gave mine to my daughter. While the dolls are rather cute, they don't really fit into the general LEGO population for me (although, considering my whack-job post-apocalyptic setting, I could possibly pass them off as some kind of humanoid aliens), the best part, for me, is the new hair pieces and hair piece accessories... As a matter of fact, I'll hopefully be able to get some pictures of a Magical Girl minifig I made using the following: The series 1 Cheerleader's Legs, the Series 4 Sailor's torso (I have a zillion sailors), the current Pick A Brick female head, Stephanies hair with one of her pink ribbons in the side accessory slot and the gold Kingdoms Queen tiara in the top slot, and a magical staff made from a white antenna piece, a gold telescope and a pink gem... This character is basically minifig Stephanie, as far as I'm concerned.
slovakiasteph Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I like them more than I expected, I guess. I do think they're cute in a way I don't think of for minifigs. Rather charming and a bit more personable than the minifig. However, I do have to say that because of them, the one set I have doesn't feel like LEGO. I'm so used to minifigs at this point. I'm unsure if I'll combine the Friends sets with my regular LEGO. If I were a kid, I don't think I'd care as much-- kids can incorporate almost any kind of toy together. I do think they look much nicer than Barbie or Bratz, though, as I don't find those cute at all!

I guess Friends is girlish enough, but definitely not as girlish as something like Barbie or Bratz.
Hinckley Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 How is this topic necessary over the Friends discussion, Friends controversy, who's your favorite friend?, If your momma was a friend, all the reviews, am I missing any? How the friends saved the starving children, etc... ?? Am I missing something? Is there a reason we need this separated? I'm inclined to close this unless someone can provide some compelling reason why it needs a separate discussion.
Vindicare Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I don't mind them, but I won't be buying the sets.

By the way, the starving children joke really cracked me up!
slovakiasteph Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Well, Mia's (is that the right one?) already saved a puppy, so I suppose the starving children are next in line...

Well, I wouldn't be surprise if they helped an old lady cross the street without her permission. Well we can continue this talk in the Discussion Thread. A mod may close this.
