I finally got a hold of some Roman soldier minifigs, it was more difficult than I thought to find them.

Anyway, I used them to make a classic Roman tortoise.

Looks good, and thanks for the close-up, multi-angled views of the Romans.

On a side note, I am not impressed by the helmet. It looks to me like the cheek plates come out way too far.

I knew someone was going to do this! It looks cool, it must be a pain to get a hold of the romans though.

Imagine that those are actually supposed to connect to each other, then the size is actually alright

Nice, wish they I had them already!

:) It has been very tricky to get the quantity I have!!! thought it was going to be easier to spot

The shape of them reminds me of the spartans from 300 at the end, did you try and make a square?

No, they are making a semi circle :classic:

Awesome pictures, they look great in formation. Although the shields seem a bit small.

thank you!! setting them in this formation was not an easy job

Thanks Scubacarrot, yes it has been very difficult to get a hold of the romans.

Excellent little MOC - simple yet realistic.

Are you planning any other Roman style MOC's 'clau_marz'....Brick On the road to Rome !

Thank you, lightningtiger. This is my first "MOC". If time allows I hope to be making more Roman style MOC's :classic:

Nice job getting them all together, and some great views. I might be mistaken, but I thought the Tortoise was for when the Romans were in massed ranks, as opposed to a formation similar to the English Square.

Run while there is still time!

I love it to see these epic minifigs together in this formation, you should be proud of your collection! I see endless possibilities with these soldiers. :classic:

Now get yourself a couple of Barbarian Tribesmen too!

Whenever I've seen the Roman testudo/tortoise formation, the soldiers were always in a square, not circular, formation. I could be wrong, but I thought that's how it's supposed to be.

It's difficult to make this formation in LEGO since the soldiers usually squish in so there's not much of a gap between the shields, but LEGO don't squish...
