ijffdrie Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 (edited) Not really a fan of the whole spinning or cards. Despite that, it's still my second favorite theme of the past few years(after Atlantis), simply because the designs are so damn good. I doubt the next wave will be pirates, simply because the ninja's enemies always seem to have techy vehicles. The pirates are neither. Most generic monsters are taken by the new monster fighters theme, otherwise I would have liked to see vampires. Maybe some other animal people, like half-scorpions or half-tigers, are next. True, but the Ninja in this wave have techy vehicles, and that's not something Ninja are traditionally associated with. So pirates could just as easily be given zany vehicles of some sort. Still, I'm not expecting a full Ninjas vs. Pirates story year. A single episode title hinting at that doesn't really make me envision a whole year's worth of set and story material. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 So pirates could just as easily be given zany vehicles of some sort. The biggest set: A Pirate ship that transforms into robo pirate! I had a dream... I saw a end of the ninjago theme: "5 Ninja vs AlienWarewolf Robots!" The Alien Warewolf robots came to earth because they need a weapons (that changed into more powerfull "Weapons of creation") to create a giant machine of mass destruction. I remember that Cole had transblack scythe with small dragon printed on it. Kai had a transred Dragon hilt sword (you could put the big fire inside) and Jay had a transblue nunchacks (made with the same dragon hilts). The best weapon- a giant ice hammer! The Alien Warewolf robots leader lookes somewhat like this: Yes, I have weird dreams like this everynight. Quote
ijffdrie Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 But they can't really be called pirates if they pilot anything other than boats, can they? That really limits the viability of such a wave. Quote
SilvaShado Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 One, I love Ninjago, for the most part. Yes there are things that bother me like the vehicles are not made very well and there certainly are too many of them. But I love the story and the characters. My appreciation of them is greatly enhanced by watching the TV show on Youtube. Two, I really enjoyed the buildings from the first year and I am a little saddened by there not being any buildings in at least this first wave of the second year. As much as I don't like there being a lot of vehicles, at least this first wave has cooler vehicles. And I happen to really like the snake people. Maybe it's because I like Nagas from Mythology. Third, I would so love a Pirate vs Ninja theme for the third year. And it could work if they were futuristic pirates. I've watched a lot of anime with space pirates that have that classic pirate personality but with space ships. So I bet LEGO could pull off more flying ships or maybe move the whole thing to space. The sky's the limit on what can be done. Fourth, I like the wackiness of this theme. It appeals to the kid in me. Finally, for those who don't like, please don't buy it. More for those who do! Oh, and incidentally, when I went after Christmas to TRU to buy the new booster packs, they were all sold out. Almost all of the Ninjago, new and old, was gone. So I think it's selling very well. And if stores are marking it down, that's all the more savings for fans. I almost always try to buy when sets are on sale. Quote
zewy623 Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I think if there is going to be pirates, they would be like space pirates or more futuristic pirates. Since the ninjas have the vehicles then why would pirates just have plain old boats? And I've been wondering, whats the green ninjas element and golden weapon? And I also think they should remake the dragon suits to fit the new armor, I've done it with the dragon suits now but the bottom of the elemental emblem is cut off but the curve of the name on cole is perfect. Quote
ijffdrie Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Maybe they could bring back one of the enemies from a discontinued series, like the crystal monsters from rock miners or the atlanteans. The latter would probably fit best with the whole "mythical golden weapon in ancient ruin" thing. Quote

SpiderSpaceman Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 (edited) Here's my suggestion.....Ninjas In Space.....now use your imagination folks ! Along the lines of the best thing I've ever heard of: And thanks to the success of Machete on DVD, Rodriguez said a sequel is in the works, called Machete Kills Again. And he wants the third Machete movie to be set in space, called Machete Kills Again... In Space. He feels like we need more bad-megablocks Mexicans in space, with space babes. And Danny Trejo wielding a lightsaber shaped like a big machete. At the very least, the "Machete in space" movie will be a trailer before Machete 2, which might also be released on the internet beforehand. the original quote did not say megablocks Oh, Eurobricks. horizon Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 @horizon Have you seen the spinner figs next to the regular figs, and tested them? The regular figs have a much nicer mold for everything, better painting, and stronger plastic, not to mention that they do stand on studs better and they hold weapons tighter. And chinese plastic IS inferior to the plastic lego uses, and the chinese use cheaper materials so that proves that its cheaper plastic. Yes, I have. There is no difference in stud-attachment. Plus: the Chinese Ninjago headgear fits better then the non-Chinese Ninjago headgear. The painting has totally no difference. No difference in the reds, blacks, etc. Nor in the painted details. And from all the spinning I can assure you the weapons fit really good and do not fall out faster (or slower) then from non-chinese minifigs. Mind you: I only know of the Ninjago line. Don't "discuss" like that. This is your first and last warning. Woops, sorry. Quote
Perry the Platypus Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Another topic for the future of Ninjago: who is the Green Ninja? What element is he or she? There has been a lot of discussion lately. Quote
horizon Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Heh, do some searching in the ninjago 2012 thread. You'll find out who the green ninja is. Unless you don't want to be spoiled and see it in the series first. Quote

I, personally think, that this year's "Green Ninja" isn't THE Green Ninja of the prophecy, but rather will be self-appointed (like Samurai X). I mean, this is Greg Farshtey we're dealing with here; he is the veritable KING of "true...from a certain point of view." Quote

The prophecy stated that The Green Ninja will defeat the "Dark Lord" (Lord Garmadon). Also, the Ninjago show is for a younger audience than Bionicle was, (In Bionicle, characters died (both good and bad) - I don't see that happening in Ninjago) so the story may be more simplified than it would be if it were for an older audience. Aanchir Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Keep in mind that Zane himself was having trouble reading Sensei Wu's scroll. It wouldn't be hard at all to just explain that he read it wrong, and then Sensei Wu could provide a more accurate description of the prophecy. Meanwhile, isn't this topic more about the future of Ninjago beyond what is immediately foreseeable? I would think that stuff about 2012 Ninjago (including stuff about the Green Ninja) would fit better in the 2012 Ninjago topic than it would here. Quote
LegoBrickSteve Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I was at Legoland Theme park in Carlsbad, CA this weekend. The free gift at the gift shop for spending X amount of dollars was a Ninjago minifigure magnet. It was amazing to see how hard they are pushing the line. A live stage show, tons of "dress up gear" and foam swords, etc... But still, most kids I could see didn't want any part of the theme. They were more interested in the cooler Lego stuff. Even the Lego website has just about all the Ninjago stuff at extremely reduced rates. Quote
Perry the Platypus Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 A live stage show What? Where did you hear about this? Quote
LegoBrickSteve Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 What? Where did you hear about this? I was at the park. It was advertised on the maps throughout; listed show times, etc... I didn't check it out because I didn't want to waste my time, but they sure were advertising it. No one was going. They have several live shows. There was some other kind with firemen and fire trucks. Didn't stop for that one either. Quote
Flipz Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Here is the actual text from LEGO Universe. Page 8 is where the actual LU part of the story picks up: Page 1 The Art of Spinjitsu Part 1 Focus your energy and Imagination to become a whirling tornado of Spinjitsu! Charge your attack when armed with a weapon of Spinjitsu. Spinjitsu requires Imagination, and will drain it while you remain in tornado form. Page 2 The Art of Spinjitsu, Part 2 If you find that normal weapon attacks do little damage against Skeletons, try Spinjitsu instead! Attacks with a Spinjitsu weapon do much more damage to Skeletons. Release a charged Spinjitsu attack to smash Skeletons to pieces! Page 3 The Art of Spinjitsu, Part 3 Maelstrom enemies are curiously resistant to Spinjitsu. You may try to use Spinjitsu to defeat them, but a normal weapon attack may work much better. Save your Spinjitsu for the Skeletons! Page 4 Ninjago: The Story So Far, Part 1 Long, long ago the First Spinjitsu Master created the 4 Weapons of Spinjitsu: The Scythe of Quakes. The Nunchuks of Lightning. The Shurikens of Ice. The Sword of Fire. Page 5 Ninjago: The Story So Far, Part 2 The Master's sons swore to protect the Weapons, but the oldest son was consumed by darkness. He became Lord Garmadon. Garmadon was banished to the Underworld by his younger brother, Sensei Wu. Page 6 Ninjago: The Story So Far, Part 3 Sensei Wu found 4 brave minifigures and trained them in the Art of Spinjitsu. They learned to harness the power of the 4 Elements: Earth, Lightning, Ice, and Fire. Together with their Sensei, the 4 Ninjas became the protectors of Ninjago. Page 7 Ninjago: The Story So Far, Part 4 Lord Garmadon, working with General Samukai and his army of Skeletons, invaded the world of Ninjago to search for the Weapons of Spinjitsu. However, the Ninjas found the Weapons first. Samukai was destroyed, Garmadon was banished once more, and the Weapons were kept safe within the Ninjago Monastery. Page 8 Ninjago: The Story So Far, Part 5 Lord Garmadon's fury echoed across the Universe, and it attracted the attention of an immensely evil being. He whispered to Garmadon of a powerfull essence that could aid him in his war. Intrigued, Garmadon ordered General Nuckal into the deep reaches of space. Page 9 Ninjago: The Story So Far, Part 6 Sensei Wu, always watchful of his evil brother, tasked a Ninja to follow General Nuckal and his forces. That Ninja, named Neido, followed the skeletons to a mysterious planet. There, he found that the Skeletons had already set up a large mining operation. Page 10 Ninjago: The Story So Far, Part 7 Neido built a small monastery refuge to keep him safe. It was attacked, again and again, by the Skeletons. Luckily, Neido was finally able to ward them off with a brand-new form of Spinjitsu magic, which was inspired by a powerful force found throughout the Universe. Neido had mastered Imagination Spinjitsu! Through the missions, you find out that the Skeletons are mining Maelstrom from Crux Prime (part of the exploded Planet Crux) to forge into weapons and armor that will be more resistant to Spinjitsu. Players spend a lot of time and energy wrecking the place, but it is too late; the Skeletons have equipped themselves with Maelstrom-infused weapons and armor, and are attacking the new, larger Ninjago Monastery world. (I'll summarize and post that story later.) Quote
SilvaShado Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 If that's going to be the third line then that's pretty cool. It is in space, which I had guessed, though I was hoping for pirates not more skeletons. I wonder what this maelstrom is like. You know, I've been thinking, Ninjago could be the next Dragon Ball Z - it could go on and on forever, as long as they can think of new ways to power up the characters and give them fiercer and tougher opponents to fight. I'm not a fan of Dragon Ball Z, but Ninjago sometimes reminds me of it. Quote
