Toa_Of_Justice Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 My latest creation, Super Sport Sensation, is based off one of the Racer sketches from the 8448 instructions. The chassis, seats, dashboard, exhaust pipes, and rear engine cover are all straight from the instructions, with only a few visible modifications. I then tacked on some panels and other decorative elements to finish the model. [specs (approximate)] Length (from front bumper to rear spoiler): 22.0 in (55.9 cm) Width (between side mirrors): 9.5 in (24.1 cm) Height (from wheel bottoms to top of roof): 5.5 in (14.0 cm) Weight: 2.8 pounds (1.1 kg) [Features] (Stock) 4-wheel independent suspension Front steering Rear differential Manual transmission (5 gears + reverse) V8 engine with cooling fan Opening rear engine cover (via a dampened spring) (After-market) Opening scissor doors Removable service jacks (those yellow liftarms in the rear; normally only used when motorizing 8448) Custom headlights and taillights Custom rear spoiler Front and rear bumpers Extra panels (2 large panels up front; 2 small panels on the rear engine cover) Golden gearshift knob (leftover 1x1 round plate and tile from Jay's Storm Fighter) White block in between seats (for style) Decorative exhaust flames [Photos] (Click any photo to enlarge it.) Notice how the headlights are arranged like studs on 2 x 4 bricks? That was my intent. There are 18 red (2 are a little hard to see on the rear spoiler), 4 yellow, and 2 white "lights" back here. The scissor doors swivel on simple friction pins, but the engine cover is connected to a dampened spring. In the above picture, you can see some of the custom panels I built. Toa_Of_Justice Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Thanks, both of you! Cool car! This profile of the car reminds me of a Camaro Funny Car that one might see on an American dragstrip: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Toa-Of-Justice/SuperSportSensation/sss_3_side.jpg I sort of see the resemblance... ...but it was not my intent to make Super Sport Sensation look like a funny car. Personally, I think my design more resembles a Ferrari FXX (the LEGO version to be precise ). -Toa Of Justice Quote
