Burf2000 Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Hello everyone While watching a couple of films and looking after my son I managed to build this, pretty chuffed as I dont use studdless Lego or NXT motors. Its only a prototype at the moment. :) Quote
timslegos Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Nice mechanical arm. it has a lot of movement. tim Quote
KEvron Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 inspired by this, though always attempting to think outside the box, i fecklessly attempted to design an nxt robotic nose in the course of "the family guy" block airing on a local station. alas, it didn't run.... KEvron Quote
Burf2000 Posted January 3, 2012 Author Posted January 3, 2012 I am planning to make one with a working shoulder next and then maybe an arm twisting joint. Quote
Ramacco Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Well designed and very good for your first studless build! Keep it up! Quote
Sariel Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Arm aside, you, sir, have an awesome accent :) Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I think your u-joints are too tight which are making the clicking nosie,i would like to see the whole thing rotate. I am sorry i can't understand a word you are saying. (just kidding) Quote

DLuders Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 As seen on his website, Sariel gave this interview on Polish TV. We know that he speaks the "King's English" very well -- he certainly writes better than us Americans and many of the native English blokes on this forum! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 He does not look like what i expected him to look like,i though he would look like this: Quote
Sariel Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) Sorry to disappoint you, Ryan. Well, I'm a linguist so I do speak several languages more or less fluently (DLuders is too kind, though), but I have never been able to develop a proper British accent. Guess it takes being an actual Brit ;) Now that we're so far off-topic, linking this feels inevitable: http://theoatmeal.com/pl/minor_differences4/accents ;) Edited January 4, 2012 by Sariel Quote

Burf2000 Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 That's not what i was getting at. Are we going towards the grammar issues? Quote
Sariel Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 I already have a technical reviewer that helps me with actual writing (that is, makes sure I only make few mistakes ;)), but of course you're free to review the book once it's out. I think it would be actually nice and helpful to drop a review here at EF. My, my, look where this topic has gone :) Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 I was meaning i could give a better review than yours, you might miss something. Quote

Oh thats cool, thought it was a grammar issue which I struggle with a lot as dyslexic. To be fair you probably could give a better review than me however I would probably very enthusiastic. I am usually too enthusiastic lol. Edited January 4, 2012 by Burf2000 Quote
