KeepLeft Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Having finally bought some base plates (roads) my layout is now complete and I have started to arrange my buildings for my town. I also recently converted what was my station to a church. In the background you can see the train at the main station (soon to be built). Another view and you can see the church has a stained glass window (with no real pattern). The sides of the raised areas are going o be closed in with different types of walls and grass. Next to it is one of the older buildings in the city, plain and simple design (office building). Next to it will be the residential buildings. The residential area borders an open park area which has a train track going through it. A river and a beach next to what will become a pier. I plan to extend the hilly area at the back. A railway station for the residential area. (Stills needs some work.) I still have to add the buildings on the other side of town which includes a Grand Emporium and some other shops. The ground will also have detail added, grass around the church, walls, parking and other random scenery, . Comments and suggestions welcome. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Your city has that classic town 1978 look about it, buildings that look early 70's town added along side minifig scale buildings. Nice work so far 'KeepLeft', I look forward to your next update. Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 I love your City 'KeepLeft'! its just so simple and clean. The buildings look really awesome Designed really well and fit together nicely! Looking forward to seeing it in the future! Quote
Yiharua Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Good layout. The red train is very impresive. Is it yours or the lego set? However it fits well in the city. Quote
KeepLeft Posted December 27, 2011 Author Posted December 27, 2011 Good layout. The red train is very impresive. Is it yours or the lego set? However it fits well in the city. The train is a Lego set. I eventually want to add my own train based on the schwebebahn which is used in Wuppertal, Germany. Although that will be much later as I still need to get the parts and figure how to design it so it works. Quote
doink Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 I like the hill and beach there - its carries the depth of the area well - I think you got the balance of which-brick-to-put-where spot on :-) Quote
KeepLeft Posted December 27, 2011 Author Posted December 27, 2011 Thanks for the compliments. I have added some scenery. The office now has a fountain and grass area with tan border, flower pots and an obelisk. Picnics to be added later. The church has a tan wall in front with steps up to the entrance with grass and trees. I also built a war memorial, two different versions, later I decided to add a grass border. Last photo is one where I was playing with the lighting, an attempt at a night-time shot. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Still looking good 'KeepLeft'....keep going and Brick On ! Quote
