So for Christmas I received the book Forbidden Lego. I don't have a lot of technic pieces yet but this book will be my inspiration I'm sure. I looked around and didn't see this posted before, has anyone heard of or tried anything from this book? I'd love to see the actual pictures! Merry Christmas to all!

Yes, I have this book and have built the Lego Gun shown. You will have to CUT OFF *oh2* some of the teeth on a 24-Tooth Technic Gear to build it!

Ha funny! So far I am really enjoying the stories on where the ideas came from and all the LEGO rules that were broken. Must be fun if you're an official set designer to cut loose now and then and write a book about plate launchers!

ah, the dark side. i can only imagine what other nefarious notions dwell within the minds of the otherwise mild mannered wonks at lego, bless their pocket protectors.

of course, i appreciate the challenges of the designs found in that book, but i applaud lego's continued stance on the designing of Toys of Mass Destruction (though they have strayed a bit from that philosophy in the last decade).

but to harm an innocent lego element, what never did nobody any harm....!

Fixed that for you.

I know that tie-in toys are where the money is, but for a company that used to say "no war toys" and mean it they've totally changed tack. Was it pirates or cowboys that broke the mold? Whatever it was, most of Lego toys are now based on violence.

Thankfully Technic is (so far) free from that particularly undesirable taint.
