Hi everyone! I've painted quite a few sets, so I thought I'd share them here. Everything is done in acrylic.

Nex 3.0

I had originally intended to give him stripes. These were drawn with a Sharpie.

Front

Head

Now he looks like this.

Front

Head

Core

Shield

Nitroblast

Nitroblast appears almost Metru Red with the wash I gave him. I'll get more pictures of him soon.

Head

Tube

Sword

Tank

Malum

I used a pocket knife to scratch his armor, then painted him. I did this to all the Glatorian.

Front

Back

Chestplate

Helmet

Claw

Vastus

The wash I used almost makes Vastus look brown.

Front

Helmet

Torso

Scythe

Vorox

My first. I always thought his tan was too bright.

Front

Back

Helmet

Torso

Sword

Raw-Jaw

He's now my favorite repaint. Though the pictures don't show it he looks Metru Red. Half-way through I thought I should give him stripes-- so here he is! Sorry about the picture quality, it's a different camera and wouldn't focus well.

Front

Back

Paw

Silverback

And here is my Brickshelf folder.

I'll be getting pictures of Maxilos, Kaxium V3, Xplode, and Corroder soon.

Thanks for looking!

EDIT: I might as well throw this in! These are backpacks I made mostly for the Glatorian. The brown one carried by Tarduk is the only one in good shape today.

Generally, I'm not a fan of modding Lego pieces, but these look great. The paints on Nex really make the figure pop, and the scratches and paint wash make the Glatorian appear to be just that, well worn gladiators.

Between this and the Brickjournal Minifig customization book, it really makes me want to reconsider my position on modding.

Also love the packs. What material are they made of?

Wow. These look great, especially the Glatorians. I agree that the colours look too bright on some of them, especially Vastus and Vorox. Fantastic job there! If only I had the time, paint and patience to do the same. I've always wanted to paint Mata Nui gold, but never got around to trying it.

Thank you! I'm always afraid of ruining a set with paint, but I think these turned out well. As soon as I get more 2/3/4.0 heroes I'll update them the same way. Once I saw The Legend Reborn I knew I had to remake the Glatorian. :)

It really isn't that hrd to do-- all of my work is in a wash. One figure usually takes an hour at most.

Thanks! I don't know what to call the material; Tarduk's pack is almost like felt and doesn't fray at all.

Thank you! Like I said, it doesn't take much time at all. I've seen other people paint him and he looks fantastic-- definitely try it out when you can.

Raw-Jaw's been painted!

Thanks, guys! I don't know about weathering the heroes-- I want to keep their "factory-fresh" look, but at the same time I want to beat them up!

How about a slightly damaged hero in mid-battle? I think a 2.0 hero with partly molten armour would look badass.

Otherwise I'd recommend to weather the 3.0 heroes.

On the mods itself... I like the paint job you put on them, though it's nothing I'd to with my sets (aside from various old Kanohi masks and a 2nd Kopaka I bought - both of them got some painting with an edding, but especially the repainted Kopaka looks extremely ugly).

I also really love the bags. Since bags are only an addition and not a total modification of a piece, I'm tempted to make bags myself. Besides, I already built once a MOC with an custom cape.

That is a great idea. I'd love to do that, but I don't think I could bear to beat up the heroes-- not the originals, anyway. It might be worth it to get more than one of a character. With Raw-Jaw done I will probably do the same to Nex.

The bags were pretty easy to make, once I found a pattern that worked. I could never make good capes.
