LegoDad Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Hello all- As you can tell, I am a dad of a young Lego enthusiast, and was a Lego builder as a kid myself. I grew up on the System sets ranging from space to castle. My son is 5, and loves everything Lego, except mine that I kept, I was told they are "lame" compared to the new ones. So we sold off all the old Legos and bought new. He (and I) are loving the Star Wars theme, and I am especially liking the new Superheroes line, as I paid no attention to Legos until about a year ago and missed the themed Legos that came out years ago. Since then, I have spent a few thousand dollars updating our toys. I have been a viewer here as a guest for a while, and am amazed at what many of you are able to build, I personally need instructions, I don't have the imagination that many here have. I look forward to getting to know others here, and look forward to the pictures, information, and future builds everyone here has to share. Thanks again. Quote
-zenn Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Welcome and enjoy the boards! Hope you didn't sold all your old lego. 'Cause you can never have enough bricks... Quote
LegoDad Posted December 13, 2011 Author Posted December 13, 2011 Welcome and enjoy the boards! Hope you didn't sold all your old lego. 'Cause you can never have enough bricks... Yeah, I sold everything. I never thought they would be worth much, but was wrong. It helped that I was fairly OCD with my Legos and everything was still complete, even after not playing with them for about 20 years. Heck, even my monorail still worked. Like you said though, we are at a severe shortage of spare bricks now though. We have dozens of sets, but not much for simply building our own creations for fun. That's what we are working on now, building the supply. Quote

Best way is probably to buy a lot of creator sets or those big tubs. Quote
LegoDad Posted December 15, 2011 Author Posted December 15, 2011 Quick question, and maybe this can be answered in a FAQ section I haven't found yet, but what is the determination on your group. I see I am a vassal, while others are knights, etc. Just curious as to its importance, or lack thereof. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Welcome aboard. Good to see more people from Nebraska on here. This site is a great resource for ideas and information on upcoming Lego sets, etc. I couldn't imagine parting with all of my old lego bricks. They sat in storage at my parent's house for approximately 16 years before I finally got back into them this last year. My daughter is starting to get into Duplo (she's 2) but she much prefers playing with my smaller scale items. And I bet they taste good too. Quote

Your group is determind by post count, unless you are a staff member or fellow, etc. Here is a page that explains it. LINK Quote
Rook Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Not sure where in the big red sea you live but welcome to Eurobricks. PS: I'm wearing my Huskers shirt today, are you? Quote
LegoDad Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 Not sure where in the big red sea you live but welcome to Eurobricks. PS: I'm wearing my Huskers shirt today, are you? I live in Lincoln and actually work for the University. I have more Husker gear than I know what to do with, as we are getting issued stuff all the time. Good to see some other Nebraskans and Huskers on here. I would have to assume, with the site name and all, that there are more Europeans or Aussies here than Americans. Quote
