Amadeus Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 I recently purchased the LEGO Star Wars set 7259, the ARC-170 Starfighter, and I discovered when I got to step 13 that I couldn't find a rubbber band anywhere in the set! Today I took it back to Toys "R" Us and got another, and I have the same problem! Someone help me- should this set include the rubber bands? Quote

Hi and welcome Amadeus ;-) The rubber bands do come with the set - if you don't have them (and you need them in any case) you should call custommer service and they will send you the missing rubber bands ;-) Hope that helped, Cheers, *yoda* Quote

Please forgive me if I seem patronising, but I'll just ask, just in case (no idea of your experience of LEGO)... Did you get a strange grey piece with two technic holes in that doesn't seem to serve any purpose? The rubber bands are wrapped around it. Off topic, has anyone put this piece to use anywhere? Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I use mine as a stand for the trans. blue bombs (round 1x1s) - when displaying. Right now, I don't have any of my SW sets built though. Quote

Zane Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Once again, I ask for recommendation - is 7259 worth getting? Considering I generally would like the get OT sets, is it worth an exception? Quote
natelite Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 my opinion? no. but as an epi 3 set, i think it is quite popular right next to CTT, judging by the ebay price and bid/demand. expect price to rise once it is discontinued. but again it's not one of those crazy sets like obi-wan's jedi red star fighter or darth maul or jango fett where it's a collectors item, so don't expect to make a killing stocking up on it. :-/ just my prediction as a lego investor. lol :-D Quote
xwingyoda Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Once again, I ask for recommendation - is 7259 worth getting? Considering I generally would like the get OT sets, is it worth an exception? My answer: NO. Its really not sturdy at all and the wing mechanism is crap - as crappy as the xwing :-P I really love some of the PT sets but this one is sure nice, but not worth the exception like Obi's red jsf, or even the cheap ands nice V-Wing ;-) Once again, I buy all EP3 and OT sets hehe *yoda* Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 Once again, I ask for recommendation - is 7259 worth getting? Considering I generally would like the get OT sets, is it worth an exception? I'm not a big Lego SW collector, but I did buy this when the movie came out. It's true that it's not that sturdy, but I still like the set. The colors are very nicely done with some good design pieces. In addition, three clone-troopers and droid add to the playability. I like how the wings open. Overall, I like this set, and would probably buy again. Quote
Amadeus Posted September 27, 2006 Author Posted September 27, 2006 Thanks for all the help with that guys, I'm happy to know that people here are so helpful. Yesterday morning looking at the set I realised the white thing on that piece were the rubber bands- it probably sounds stupid to you, but my only recent sets have been the current City Fire Station, Police Boat, Ambulance and Street Sweeper and the Exo-Force Stealth Hunter, so I haven'tt used LEGO rubber bands in a while. Unfortunately, I discovered this AFTER I filled in a missing pieces form on the LEGO website, so I have more rubber bands on the way. :-$ All the same, I'm glad I bought this set, I think it's really good. captaintau Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 I love my ARC 170. I think its a great set. Seriously swooshable. Quote
Darth_Ewok Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 It's a great set, like captaintau said, it's great for SWOOSHING! Quote
xwingyoda Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 It's a great set, like captaintau said, it's great for SWOOSHING! Don't swoosh it too hard or you'll loose your wing blasters and won't stop that rear gun to turn as if it was on some illegal substances :-D *yoda* Quote
DavidAzevedo Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I really like this set. I have two. The wing mechanism isn't like the X-wing's... it's worse, I admit. Anyway, I really like it. Quote

Welcome to EB, David. Please tell us a bit about yourself. Regarding wing mechanisms, OK the ARC's is a bit fragile but these mechanisms are still great to have. What would you prefer instead? I think its great that LEGO do things like this instead of either static open or closed wings or the stutter-hinges that we got with the first X-Wing. Quote
xenologer Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Regarding wing mechanisms I'd prefer a design that needs no rubber bands to pull the wings closed. Have technic gears connect directly to the wings themselves at the joints. Quote

Scouty Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 The Arc-170 is one of my favorites, i've got three of them, great swooshing. X-D Quote
Corvus Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 The ARC-170 is a good set, but it took up too much room for me. Problem solved: Blade titan meets ARC-170 :-D You're right, great for swooshing! Quote
casewindu Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Once again, I ask for recommendation - is 7259 worth getting? Considering I generally would like the get OT sets, is it worth an exception? i think it is because it is probably if not the best episode 3 set that came out! it doesnt fal apart and there are 3 clone pilots! :-D Quote
