KeepLeft Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 (edited) I have built another house this time 16 studs wide, I quite like the finished product though I may change the roof by adding some white sloping tiles on the side to border the black ones, once I get enough tiles. The back view is pretty plain and I was running out of tiles. Not sure if I want to add a bit of detail here. Next to my other house. As part of my town, the blue building on the left is the station. lightningtiger Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Nice work 'KeepLeft', though you have the same problem as me, some dirty bricks....I use toothpaste to polish them. Keep them coming 'KeepLeft' and Brick On ! Quote

Keep them coming 'KeepLeft' and Brick On ! Those dirty bricks are 30 years old, they have character. I have tried cleaning some of the white bricks by putting in a bleach solution which works up to a point, though I just try use the cleaner new bricks on the front. Though cleaning individual bricks is too much effort. Quote
bootz Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Toothpaste you say? I tried oxyclean, nail polish remover, and a Mr clean magic eraser but none seemed to work. Anyway nice house, I like how it fits with your other building. Quote

TheLegoDr Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I really like the detailing of this building. It isn't too over the top, but it isn't plain/basic either. The color scheme works well too. I also have many, many white bricks that are discolored. I have yet to try to clean them, but I plan to in the future. I have not tried toothpaste. I do agree they add some character, but it depends on the look you are going for. Too much "character" from the discoloration will look like the building itself is in need of some TLC (and I don't mean the lego company)...well, actually it could work with that meaning too. Keep up the good work. Quote

Keep up the good work. Thanks for the compliment. I have changed the way I construct buildings. I used start with an idea in mind and try to build it, then when I find I do not have enough bricks I end up getting frustrated, so now I look at what bricks I have and build up with them. I do not like the discoloured bricks so I try to use then at the back or places where they cannot be seen. They tend to show up my haphazard building techniques. Quote
Vindicare Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Nice house, despite the discoloration. It has a Victorian look to it, I like the entryway, very nice. Nice color choice too. Quote
