Space Marines Cuusoo

I've decided to start creating sets in earnest for the Space Marines Cuusoo project. I'm not a great MOC builder, so I'm opening up the invitations for people to join the Flickr group or upload LDraw files here of vehicles and playsets that you'd like to see as a real set. If you upload digital MOCs, I'll produce a photoreal rendering so everyone can see what your idea's like in the flesh, so to speak, and I'll populate it with minifigs. Send some information about the set, too, if you want. This is your chance to make an AFOL-designed theme come true, folks!

While I like your designs and think that such sets would be very cool, I very much doubt LEGO would produce sets based around what essentially boils down to "soldiers in space". I think it's too close to having an actual military theme (albeit with a great sci-fi twist) and would violate LEGO's policies of producing such sets. It's a shame...but a great idea. Along the same line with the above comment I think you will need an opposing faction to your marines - every official action-oriented theme has one.

Alien Conquest has quite an idea: soldiers vs aliens. Guns, armed vehicles and evil creatures are included. =)

A couple years ago, I wouldn't have thought that Lego would do it, but Alien Conquest seems to be a similar theme, albeit on Earth. I'm already working on some alien minifigures.

Rocketbilly: You're almost right. The theme boils down to Marines in space.

Have you tried sites like shapeways.com they make 3D CAD models from concepts and could help you make your ideas a reality. There is some people on there already designing lego elements you could contact for help. If you got them produced I would buy them for sure. the gun options for space are always welcome.

Thanks! I'm already finding out that the final models, if they're made, will not look exactly like the renderings, due to physical constraints, but suprisingly I'm able to CAD them up in such a way that they look a lot like the originals. :)
