Minimalist Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Hello! Here is a ground exploration vehicule combo for extended missions. The smaller one can go where the big one can't, or for brief separate missions, or in case of an emergency. I made the same kind of models a few years ago but that was with a combination of many small sets and Lil' Tom was strangely hooked to Big Joe. This time, I changed the hook-up between the two and used only set 4891. I finally got a new camera so, from now on, I will have real pictures to show. (yes, there is a piece added so that Lil' Tom stays in place while rolling down the ramp) Thanks for looking! C&C welcome! Quote
Tricornicus Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Nice! I like that, despite the contrast between the big chunky carrier and the sleek little scout, they still clearly belong to the same family. Quote
Minimalist Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 Thanks! That's one thing I was looking for: that they be very different but related in some way. Patrick Quote
Rocketbilly Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Very cool, and more than meets the eye, too. Like others have noticed,I like how they look like part of the same unit yet are also individual too. That can be hard to pull of, especially at such a small scale I find. I really like the asymmetrical radar dishes or searchlights or whatever they are, and the way they attach and the tilting rear area to allow the smaller one to roll off properly and presumably rejoin the larger one too. Minimalist Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 Thanks! I worked "hard" on that one! (though playing with Lego is no work! ) These are satellite comm-link dishes so the two stay can communicate when they are separated. Quote
-zenn Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I'm still amazed about micro's... So little, but packs a big punch. This combo really works together well; the contrast between the blocky Big Joe and the smoothness of Lil' Tom. Have you thought about building micro scale, but without the restriction of a sets? You're probably gonna make some kick-megablocks moc's for sure! Quote
Minimalist Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 Thanks! Hopefully, during the Holydays, I'll be able to organize my collection in full (or most of it). Then, I'll have access to my 35K, or so, bricks and we'll see what I can do with more than one set. I am already planning a base on an alien planet... Thanks again, Patrikc Quote
