dartmar Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 The other day I was looking through my collection of lego buildingbooks and I noticed something. I was missing a building instruction book of a train. So off course I started looking on the internet to locate this train and it's instructionbooklet but I can't find it. I have no picture of the train and the train itself is off course in a bunch of pieces and scattered between the other Lego. So I am hoping someone here knows something: It was a yellow hand-pushed diesel train. It looked a bit like a Crocodile-train but yellow and a bit more sturdy. If I am not mistaken it came with only one minifig wearing a hardhat. I guess I got it in the early eighties before I got my first electric Lego-train. Does this ring any bells with one of you? Quote

And isn't any of the other models you sugested. But thank you for your effort. If I have time I will try to find the train-baseplate of the model. It is really annoying when you know I had it and now I can't find it. Maybe I'll go through the fotoalbums to see if mom took a picture of me and my Lego trains Quote
talltim Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 As far as I know 162 and 7740 are the only train sets that had much yellow in the locomotives. There are various other locos that could possibly be described as Krokodil-ish, but not in yellow Quote
roamingstop Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Other than photo albums, spend a bit of time going through... * Ideas book 7777 (link in the 7777 Redux contest) * Checking the Bricklink.com site; and see the photos of the various models. Certainly if you have the base plate you can see the part in bricklink, and then checking the catalog entry, work out which sets it was in. E.g. this link shows all the train pieces. The first 10-15 items are train bases. Quote

I haven't had time to dive into my Legoboxes to try to locate some parts like the wheels and baseplate. Quote

I ussually kept all models as they were and used all my other Lego to build around them: bridges, trainstations. Quote
Homer_S Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 If you have a collection of the pieces to build it why not use bricklink to see if any of the pieces are unique to a set. IE see what sets the windscreen came in? I also use Brickfactory if you go to the last page of 162 there are 3 alternate modles there is also 4565 it is yellow, may be newer than what you have though. Quote

But how do I do that because I'm afraid my picture may br too big for this website. It's funny even my mom is trying to help. She went through all the photoalbums to find pictures of me playing with Lego. Although the train wasn't on any of them it was a real trip down memory lane: seeing my lay-out of a legotown with my beloved red cat, we used to have when I was a kid, watching me play. He always did that. Sometimes I would love to go back to those days. But I'll try to post a picture soon and I am trying to locate the wheels. Because I believe there was something special about those wheels. Especially the front and back wheels. But I have 17 rather large boxes to go through. Quote
